People focus on the age way too much.

Vardy was crushing it in his early and mid 30s ffs.  Scoring what 13, 20, 18, 23 league goals when he was around 29-32 or so.

Yes,  Chaplin isnt vardy and I don't expect him to bang that many goals in but at this level if the team plays well, no reason he won't/can't score 10 goals or more.

We can judge end of season if this was terrible but we have slim pickings right now.

I was focussing on Vestergaard's, Ayew's and Reid's age. The last good over 30 wee signed was Jonny Evans in... 2018.

Also not the biggest fan of a 3 year contract; would be prefer some performance based option for the 3rd year, but we are in a hard place.

He seems a sound guy and pro; and has performed in this league before. Just hope we been reasonable with the wages.

We can't consider it poor until we know the full details of his contract though.

He could be on lower wages because it's 3 years and we actually benefit or make a small profit from selling him at 30/31.

You can sign someone on the decline on longer deals if the terms are good, it's just our recent problem is paying way over the odds on wages for players who won't get better elsewhere and who don't want to leave.

Do you think there is even a1% chance Jon Rudkin and sons negotiated such a deal?

Not saying I'm confident with his poor we've been lately, but until it's official there's still the chance it is a good deal.

There is just no way a 29 year old championship player like Chaplin is signing a 2 year deal with a League 1 club.

Since when is 29 over the hill anyway? I remember reading that 28 is prime age for a midfielder.

On paper, it is a good signing for us.

Agree with this bit suppose you can't also ame anyone who's wary. We are all traumatised

Its strange, because on one hand I hate that we are signing older players who are everyone else's rejects (yet again)...

But on the other hand I do think the likes of Chaplin and Ings (if he signs) will do a very good job for us in League 1.

I guess the worry isn't signing the players themselves, its making sure we don't make the same mistakes with long contracts etc.

Don't trust this comedy club to do much right so probably normal to be apprehensive.

I don’t think Coady’s professionalism or personality can be questioned in all fairness.

Probably fair, perhaps my perception is skewed by his ability and the love for microphones

I think this is why he got a lot of the hate that he did.

I don’t it’s unfair though, his actions never backed up his words, and he was more than happy to share his words.
