Is Luke thomas going to surprise everyone and show that he is well capable of playing centre back? No. No he isnt....

Aluko is going to have so much of the ball tonight.  Martins bright idea to play out the back is use a LB who is afraid to pass the ball forwards.

Apart from obvious issues in defence I actually like the team. Yes it's a bit lightweight but these boys will only ever improve by playing competitive games at the end of the day so f*ck it. Regardless of the results it's an opportunity for them to impress

Of everyone in this team that plays I really hope McFarlane does well,I think shockingly Luke Thomas looked better centrally than as a fullback so if we have to play him central so he doesn't keep getting beat by his winger then so be it

Part of me loves that he’s thrown some more garbage out of the team - the other part of me knows we ship 4 at least tonight.

So who should we be playing at centre half tonight is my point, that would make everyone happy?

The goal isn't to make "everyone happy", it never is. That's a strawman argument.

The goal is to put in a convincing performance, against all odds.

We're the League One team now, Ipswich the Premier League side.

I just hope the boys in blue don't let us (overly) down.

And that we do some sensible transfer business before the window closes. :fc:

Martin, interviewed pre-game, said Okoli is injured and Souttar is rested after his Wirld Cup exertions, so maybe not the exodus of players some are suggesting.

Do we know what sort of quality ipswich have opted for  - i mean, if they've rested 11 players and gone with duds and academy lads we could have a 6-6 draw on our hands...

Gray or you stick Souttar in given there’s no other option.

playing Thomas alongside Aluko is potentially confidence damaging

Surely confidence cannot get any lower lol

Possibly explains why it was too late to bring in Gray?

If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain. Know which great philosopher said that? Russell Martin.

What's Okoli injured/ His pride?

Glad Souttar needs a rest after his great amount of exertion in the last couple of weeks.
