Happy Easter from the cvnts at 1Stop.

I've boycotted the place since they started selling advent calendars in September.

Seriously, they did.

Also....   the London fireworks...

The country is bloody SKINT!

My brother sent me a video of this as we never see them like that over here in Canada. Usually more low key with our displays. The first thing i said was it's beautiful and all (epic,  if you will) but such poor taste at a time soooo many are struggling to eat, find decent shelter etc.

I understand that you can't  ignore others who love fireworks (regardless of wealth) but I'm  guessing the money could have been put to better use. If people were told the cost maybe enough would say no? Or maybe i misunderstand people haha

Priorities and realities are out of sync. But hey, happy 2024! Lol.

We should probably have 500000 people live outside parliament and another 19 million on TV just watching a big Catherine Wheel.

It was only the same cost as a tube drivers weekend shift.

According to the eye website, tickets were £20 and there were 100,000 tickets. I imagine that's a good chunk of the cost at least.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on playing music in a public place? The beach, a quiet picnic area, anywhere else where the area is to be enjoyed by all?

It grinds my gears every year at this time of the year when we spend more time outside.

Is it just me being a cranky old man? Do you do it? Would you? Does it bother you?
I’m really interested in the thoughts of others on this topic. From people I’ve spoken to personally I’ve had a mixed bag of responses, with in general the younger people are the less of an issue they have with it.

I personally hate it, it’s selfish and nobody else wants to listen to their  💩 music.

Some big oaf in Valencia brought a huge speaker to the beach complete with its own tent to keep the sun off it and promptly spoilt the day for us.

Im old and grumpy though.

Inflicting your musical tastes on other people in public is narcissistic and frankly scummy. The amount of times I have been on a train and some tosser has been playing their music,  sans earphones and I have had to resist the impulse to rip the phone out of their hands and stamp on it. Mine you I do have quite low tolerance!! 🤬

I've become a lot more tolerant to this since we moved to Spain, the noisiest country in the world! It's common over here and tbh I quite like sitting outside most of the year here listening to the sounds of people enjoying themselves. I suppose it depends how loud and intrusive it is, but yeah, I don't mind it.

I would happily use up a life times worth of reps for this post.

I cannot over exaggerate how incredibly selfish it is and how it annoys me so much.

Totally agree with you. When these selfish oafs do it I don't suppose they give much thought if we all did it with the cacophony it would result in. If I'm sitting in the garden or in a park etc the only singing I want to hear is the birds

I find it narcissistic and anti social. Would never do it.

If it's Lang Lang playing Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee on St. Pancras Station, what's there to complain about?

Wholly with you. Highly annoying and totally selfish. If I'm in an area to be enjoyed by all, I'm no longer enjoying it if I'm being bombarded with other people playing music.

I also find people walking along with music playing loudly on speakerphone very annoying, get some headphones!

My kids currently walking round the house in t-shirts and with no socks on, moaning that they’re cold and want the heating on.
