21st Century Fox Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 For a moment I thought Kenny Rogers had died before I noticed the title change.
Fox92 Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Can see this one going tits up again for Liverpool, he inherited a Swansea side that was already good and playing good football. No doubts he did a decent job, but people seem to give him the credit for their style when it was already in place thanks to Martinez (and Sousa). Totally agree.
Matt Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Rodgers is a good manager but can see it turning out abit like Roy Hodgson did at Liverpool. There are managers who are great managers, at smaller clubs but it doesn't work out at the 'bigger clubs' I think Rodgers may be one of those managers. As for Swansea....POOR SWANSEA.
Saxondale Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Rodgers pees me off, mainly because he wears skinny ties and he's too fat to pull them off.
goose2010 Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Should not skim read thread titles I thought this was about kenny Rodgers!
Raj Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Massive club...in the 70's!!! No bigger than Spurs now! And as a few have said...this too will go tits up(hopefully ending in relegation!!!)
Corky Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 I remember, about six years ago, we were linked to Rodgers, who was at Chelsea, and wondered who the hell he was. Now look at him.
AyewJoking Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 Bit of a come down from Guardiola, Mourinho, Van Gaal. I hope Liverpool fans and owners have learned their lesson and dont expect instant success.
Tielemans63 Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 1 season at the top level - i'm amazed that Liverpool have gone for Rodgers. I'm almost certain this will be a case of too much too soon for him. Let's be honest big-name players are often twats who only respect suitably big-name managers. I think he's going to have massive job winning over the Liverpool players - Hodgson had a far more impressive CV and didn't manage to do so. Hope I'm wrong as he seems like a good guy and the way Swansea played last season was a joy to watch.
Happy Fox Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 Liverpool need to be patient but fans demands wanting champions league footie aint going to happen anytime soon, overhauling Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs Not a Chance imo, best hope is a Top 7 finish.
AjcW Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 Rodgers pees me off, mainly because he wears skinny ties and he's too fat to pull them off. lol!!! Quote of the month!

Agreed..its a bit different to being manager with us and Swansea. Also the pressure from fans and the board will be much greater ofcourse.
Fox92 Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Rodgers confirmed. Just watching his press conference on SSN now. He was "number one target" all along.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I can't see Rodger's lasting the season. When asked about experience he used Kenny Dalglish in his first term as manager as an example. The difference IS though Kenny took over arguably the best team in Europe at the time - not some ramshakle collection of odds and ends that are basically just another Premiership team with potential. To my memory Rodger's has never turned a team around (he certainly didn't at Reading!) he's just built on good work by his predecessor (once). It's a huge risk, for Liverpool and for Rodgers. Personally I'd rather have been a hero at Swansea than someone who has to perform miracles just to be accepted at Liverpool.
kingfox Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I like Rodgers think he is a quality manager, and when linked with Leicester before I keep thinking now that we should of really got him as our manager. Liverpool is a too bigger step for him, can see it ending by December time for Rodgers. He don't have full control, plus Liverpool is a shit club full of w*****s

I think Rodgers may have used the Dalglish example to play-up to the Liverpool fans, by showing he knows and understands the club. Liverpool fans never took to Roy because they didn't believe that he was one of them. So a bit of PR may not be a bad thing to get the fans' backing.
21st Century Fox Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I like the fact that Swansea had a 12 months hands off clause written into the compensation package regarding their players. Nicely done.
Simmo86 Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I like the fact that Swansea had a 12 months hands off clause written into the compensation package regarding their players. Nicely done. All due respect to Swansea but with where Rogers will want to be taking Liverpool can't see him sniffing too around many players from Swansea.
ScouseFox Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Gylfi still hasn't signed for Swansea though. He could be Liverpool bound and is a massive improvement on Henderson/Spearing and will be less than half the price of Henderson if he signs.
oxford blue Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Liverpool managers... there was an Englishman, Scotsman and an Irishman... this is becoming a joke!
Guest Posted 2 June 2012 Posted 2 June 2012 Read the title and thought this was about country singers.
