Watched "Back To Life" on BBC Three (Iplayer). 6 part drama/comedy about a woman who returns to the coastal town where she grew up after 18 years in prison.

The story slowly unravels over the six parts. Really enjoyed it watched in one sitting!

Apparently from the same Producers as "Fleabag" but I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than that.

I do sort of like it compared to a Breaking Bad type ending for one character but it does leave everyone else open.

Shock of all shocks, I like the ending of the Wire the best of all the major crime dramas.

I like that it doesn't really end. Mcnulty's story ends, Bubbles' story ends, Marlo's story ends, Omar's story ends, Bunny's story ends but they're all just replaced by the next generation and the wheel keeps turning. The game goes on.

You get resolution and closure for the characters you've followed but without any questions really being answered and with the world absolutely, totally and completely unchanged for their actions which is the biggest point of all.

The Wire? Oh yeah 100% definitely. I mean in my opinion it's the best show ever. Accounting for taste, I accept people might think Breaking Bad or The Sopranos or whatever might edge it but I don't know anyone* who's watched the The Wire that doesn't rate it as one of the best.

Everyone should watch it, imo, especially if they've enjoyed other gritty dramas.

If you enjoyed the Sopranos and you've not seen Gomorrah then I'd seriously recommend that too by the way. It is incredibly bleak, it doesn't have a great deal of humour on any level to break up the darkness but it's a really gripping look at organised crime in modern Naples which is a good contrast to Sopranos / The Wire.

Can I assume you've watched Narcos and Narcos Mexico? They're great as well BTW.

(*that I respect ;)

It ruined TV for me. Absolutely amazing.

Season 3 is the best, no season 4. No hold on, probably season 1. Saying that season 2 had a Steve Earle song to finish the season so that probably makes it the best. Oh **** it they're all just so good ??

The Feel Alright montage at the end of Season 2 is one of my favourite uses of a song in TV to be honest.

All of the end of season montages are good but that one's class. I like the last one as well for the reasons hinted at above.

I was going to start Gomorrah but it’s subtitles isn’t it?

Started Narcos and was disappointed as I’ve read his brothers book and it was miles better.

Gomorrah is subtitled yes.

I'd emplore anyone to not let that put them off, there's a lot of very good international TV out there these days but I get that some people just don't like it so fair enough.

Yeah the final season is class and the last episode is perfect like you said.

Watched the whole lot 3 times but it's been about 5 years since the last time. Purposely giving it a long break so I can forget as much as I can.

I’ll give it a go but I’ll probably end up on here calling someone a nobber and miss the key bits.

I came across Now Apocalypse which is a new series but it is practically soft porn (hint hint likes of Dr Singh or Jattdogg!) by accident while in Cuba.  I cannot get it out of my head as I only watched one episode but it was so randomly written.   I wonder if anyone on here is following the series and can advise further what the hell the series is all about lol

The Wire should already have been watched. One of the best series ever - it'll make both the sopranos and Breaking Bad just distant memories.

Finished watching 3 series that my wife gave up on this week whilst she was away.

True Detectives season 3 - It started so well and the atmosphere for the first 3 or 4 episodes was great but the storyline was slow. Sadly the story sort of meandered and petered out rather and the last episode was pretty unimpressive. I thought the acting was very good though for the main characters even though I feel the woman's part was severely underwritten. Most disappointing of the 3 seasons so far.

Safe - Harlen Coben writes great books that are very difficult to put down, this series should simply have been put down. Started okay but tailed off quickly. Again the final episode (or two) were a complete waste of time.

Altered Carbon - This series had so much going for it. Great look and feel and some really wonderful Sci-fi ideas. Sadly the makers (were they Sky TV by any chance?) quickly went down the soft-porn route to interest young male audience and ignored some of the great themes that should have been better expolited. Again the final episodes became tedious and if the sister had said how she was doing this just to be with her brother one more time, I may have had to throw the TV out the window. If it was based on a book, it'd probably be worth the read but the series that could have been a Sci-Fi classic should probably end up in the bin.

Seems my wife was right to give up on all three.

Next one she gave up on that I'm going to check out it is Humans.

I've started watching Lunatics on Netflix. It's made by Chris Lilley the guy who did Summer Heights High which I loved.

Liking this so far but when the bit where they introduced the 70s pornstar was weird.

I don’t think he’ll ever beat the line “We had this beautiful rose bush here but someone got raped behind it so we had to tear it down”

Been a big fan of his for a while, and been eagerly awaiting this series for about a year. I'm bad for binging TV, but to be honest I've found this series a bit meh and I still haven't finished it.

All episodes of The Shield are apparently available on All4 now. One of my favourite shows of all time. About a majorly bent squad of cops policing the gang scene in LA.

Well worth a watch. Has a great ending to it as well.

Currently into Travelers, shot in my second home of Vancouver, BC.

Love the concept, people traveling back in time, taking over people on the brink of death as hosts.
