Fox Ulike Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Southampton linked with him in today's Sun. It's taken me a whole day to realise this - but Southampton don't have a manager - so it would be very strange for them to bring in a big-money signing without a manager... Replacing Ricki Lambert is a big decision for them so I doubt they would do this before they have their manager in place. For me, Ulloa should be our number 1 target...

Agree with the first part, the second I'm not so sure I'd be that strong but we could do with a good target man
Guest Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 15 pages thus far. Maynard the sequel. Even crapper and starring C listers?
chicagofox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Are you his agent? If your not, you certainly seem to rate him highly. Given your high opinion of this player, i take it you have seen much more of him than the rest of us then. No I am not. In none of my comments have I mentioned how highly or not I rate him (Because it is irrelevant). I may have seen him less than some on here as I didn't see The Brighton game at the KP last season. I do assume tho' that our management team have seen him play more than most on here and their opinion of him is the only relevant one.
surrifox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 15 pages thus far. Maynard the sequel. wasn't the Maynard thread enlivened by their fans coming over and telling us that their owner was a billionaire and they didn't need our money and in any case why would he take a backward/ sideways career move - that's what's missing here
Dickov22 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Is he better than Wood and GTF? 100%. Agree with Babylon; if our scouts think he is, then I hope we sign him. Whatever the price.
Monsell1976 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Can't believe a relative unknown player, and unproven at the top level warrants 15 pages, let alone people wanting to pay silly over the top money for him. If it was my money and was looking at paying 5 to 10 million( as being reported Brighton want), I would be looking at a higher standard, proven striker, and Pearson won't be held to ransom, so if they are being greedy, he will move on.
inckley fox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 As regards our scouting, I have a great deal of faith in it where significant fees are concerned. People have at times pointed towards the fact that there have been a good number of duds over the course of Pearson's two stays and, yes, there have been a few (Arjedevic, Adams, McGovern, Gallagher, Nelson, Marshall, Futacs and so on) but these were bargain buys, and when you consider that Dyer, Hobbs, Wasilewski and Mahrez were also budget signings he's not done too badly. Where seven figure sums have been paid his record is insanely good (Wellens, Drinkwater?, De Laet, Vardy, James, Knockaert), so if he wanted to splash out five million on Ulloa, I'd be surprised if he didn't know what he was doing. In fact I watched that video on sports science at Leicester and it seems he knows, from that point of view, precisely what the team needs at any given moment.
Stadt Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Name a half decent premiership striker that hasn't cost any less than £5 million.
80footgiraffe Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Name a half decent premiership striker that hasn't cost any less than £5 million. Michu
80footgiraffe Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Signed originally as a midfielder How about adebayor then, £5 million
yorkie1999 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Name a half decent premiership striker that hasn't cost any less than £5 million.Rickie lambert
HowardsBulletHeader Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Name a half decent premiership striker that hasn't cost any less than £5 million. Has not cost any less than 5 million? Easy. RVP, Suarez, Berbatov, Balotelli, Rooney, Aguero, Bony. The list goes on.
RowlattsFox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Rickie lambert Who's to say ulloa couldn't go and do what Lambert has done. Couldn't imagine anyone being happy about signing lambert when he played in the championship but he got his chance and proved he could play at a higher level.
Fox92 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I don't think he is good enough for the prem. Also as I stated I know a Brighton fan who watches him every week. He says he ain't prem class misses easy chances and at the 6.5mil asking price Brighton are laffin all the way to the bank. He likened him to Akinbadbuy. I never get the "he isn't good enough for the Prem" argument when a player has never played there. Well, ok, I understand it if someone said it about Elvis Hammond or something but Ulloa impressed me when we played Brighton and I said at the time he's the player I want us to sign. And now other teams are linked with him regardless of it's true, or in the Sun's case, not. I'd question £6.5million but I don't question Pearson or Walsh, who have worked wonders for ourselves and Hull City in the transfer market. Ulloa is a target man - he's strong, good in the air, can finish, holds up the ball - and these players are never cheap, especially decent players. Now I'm not going to question your mate if he watches Brighton every week, because I'm the same whenever my mate speaks about Hull. I respect he watches them every week. But on the other hand, Bradders is a regular and good poster on here that rates Ulloa a lot.
HEGGSY Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Name a half decent premiership striker that hasn't cost any less than £5 million.Any more Wookie, mate.Any less implies £5 million is the minimum
Rob1742 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Thats right a mate I trust better than all on here saying how great he is and at most seen him twice. And in one game playing a team that was hung over. If we get him I hope he works out and I'd support him don't mean I want him. I back Pearson to the hilt don't mean I have to agree with everything he does. It's all about opinions, my Brighton mate says he is their best player and would be a massive loss.
sylofox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Yeah well I didn't know his mate says he's rubbish... I'll ignore the fact I've seen shit loads of other Brighton fans saying he's great. Or the fact our scouting team are... well scouts and not just some random bloke going to the footy. You don't half know how to talk bollox. Where and when did I say he was rubbish? The comment was he is not prem class and at 6.5mil they are laughing all the way to the bank. I suppose now we have a few quid and not in debt it's ok to start spunking it up the wall again.
sylofox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 It's all about opinions, my Brighton mate says he is their best player and would be a massive loss. Thats right it is. The problem is certain people on here think they are the only ones that have one that counts. Makes me laugh though when I put it at the start of the thread no one said a word. I hope if we get him it works out if we are spending 6mill on him.
MC Prussian Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 It's all about opinions, my Brighton mate says he is their best player and would be a massive loss. Your Brighton mate is not the Albion chairman, by any chance? Ulloa is a good player that can still improve (a little), but at £6.5m, there's better talent elsewhere to be found.

Sounds like you think you are the only one whose opinion counts. Getting worked up when people have a different view to yours. I haven't a view personally. Don't really know him, so pointed out that my mate said he is their best player, which shows like I said it is all about opinions
