Legend_in_blue Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 6.5m is steep. Rather us spend it on a relative known than a relative unknown though. Tinpot Brighton may as well take it.
VLC86 Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 6.5 mil is way too much for me... Me too but if we save our pocket money for a few years who knows!
TrentFox Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 If Nuge goes, we are effectively left with only Vardy who is a threat upfront. We need some quality in. Campbell at less than a mill is a step in the right direction. We'll need more. If Ulloa is one, so be it. Good player. Heavy price. Fingers crossed.
dayday Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 If Pearson sees him as the main man then sometimes you have to up the bid to prize him here.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 This is quite worrying. We must be pretty desperate if he's the best we can come up with. If it's true and we have made another bid of 6.5 million for a player unproven in the Prem and not all that prolific in the championship , then it's a hell of a gamble.
st albans fox Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 does it matter if he costs 4 mill or 8 mill ? we have the money. as long as his wages are in line and he wants to come here and be part of 'the team', then i dont see what relevance the fee has. if we had a finite amount to spend then it would be an issue. if he can see that we want him then maybe he will put a transfer request in if brighton reject again. i suspect he doesnt want to do that as he would forfeit a load of dosh from brighton. of course, if the fee increases then brighton will use that extra to pay him what he is due. there is a point where this deal works for them. we may be approaching it.
Stevosevic Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Vardy, Nugent, Ulloa and Campbell possibly the main 4 then. Pearson, you're lucky I trust you.
Stadt Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Whilst I trust Pearson [insert Henry Winter's quote about decking] it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be correct on every decision. However I'd be relatively pleased if we signed him.
LCCFox96 Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Eek. £6.5mil is getting a little bit steep. Hopefully he proves to be worth it. Like most people are saying Ulloa comes with a bit of question mark but in Nigel we trust. I have confidence in him to bring the right player in.
lgfualol Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 We must reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want him. Surely there are other options we should be spending our time with. Brighton clearly don't want to let him go.
jayfox26 Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 6.5 mil is way too much for me... I wouldn't pay £6.5m for you!
Buzzell Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 For us to make yet another bid for him must mean Nige and Walshy must see something in him. £6.5m is quite steep for a player unproven in the PL and a big gamble but let's be realistic. Who are we expecting to sign? We will pay over the top money for players. Every signing will be a gamble. We all know that Nigel knows what's best for the club. Let's hope, if he does come in, that the gamble pays off and he delivers.
dmayne7 Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 6.5 mil is way too much for me... Well, we're not trying to sign you! I wouldn't pay £6.5m for you! Beat me to it
Sharpe's Fox Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Does this lad come with a 3 year guarantee and a years free insurance or summat?
Monsell1976 Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Hopefully Brighton get greedy and reject it, and we walk away. As has been said a lot of money, on what would be a gamble, but if he does sign, I just hope the gamble pays off.
Number 6 Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Don't get all the negativity. As a football fan would you rather have a new player to watch who has been relatively successful in his career or let your owner have an extra £6.5m in the bank? We've hardly been throwing money about blindly. I'd consider previous free business has perhaps enabled us to go a bit more on Ulloa and I'd view £7.3m ish for the 3 we got + Campbell and Ulloa would be great business.
Clever Fox Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 It's only two years ago when people on here were saying Pearson was losing the plot to be paying 1 mil for a non league player, Vardy. Now many think that he will thrive in the premier league. The point being that Nigel new what he was getting in Vardy and was proved right. Ulloa has scored against the only two premiership teams he played against in the cups. That proves he's up to the job. Whether he can do it on a regular basis remains to be seen. But in Nigel I trust his judgement.
Gary Eatfood Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 I for one am quite happy and i'll mention that before the incoming hate. I think he's a quality player who does score goals. We're in need of a traditional number 9 but I think he does that with intercontinental qualities. I think he's a risk, but I can see it coming off. Provided he stays injury free. £6.5m does seem like a lot of money, but we do need a player of his quality. He's going to have to get rid of that shite goatee though. I agree. I've been impressed with Ulloa since he came to England and but for a reasonably long lay off last year through injury he would have scored more goals. I think this could be an inspired move from Nigel, one that could hopefully lay the ghost of Akinbiyi to rest.
ealingfox Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 That is an absolutely fvcking ridiculous price. If this one gets rejected they are even bigger mugs than we are. How have we gone from bidding 3 million to suddenly bidding 6.5 million? Can't help but get a bit nervous here, with all that's going on. This much-hyped scouting network we have, what are they playing at? If we don't sign at least one player I've never heard of from a non-major European league I will turn up at our first game purely to boo from the first whistle.
