Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Don't get too excited Hux, I remember feeling positive when we signed "Champions League winning" Marco Ferreira on loan the season we went down. 0 appearances in 4 months - a shrewd acquisition if ever I saw one. We've already had our fingers burnt by stars from the Champions league (Abdoun/Djebbour). Most of this batch of signings seem to be for the development squad and not so much the first team. Super_horns Posted 20 July 2014 Share Posted 20 July 2014 Super_Horns: That would make us two englishmen better then most premier league games Very true! Yet the answer seems to be just dumping a load of kids into the lower leagues disguised as "B" teams..
Col city fan Posted 20 July 2014 Share Posted 20 July 2014 George Thorne is a player I'd like at City. Looks very talented and will only get better.
Finnegan Posted 20 July 2014 Share Posted 20 July 2014 Nah, you just have to look at the progress of certain clubs. Look at Fleetwood, and especially, Wigan. Fleetwood and Blackpool in the same league next year. Or, if Fleetwood miraculously do a double promotion, the league above.

AKCJ Posted 24 July 2014 Share Posted 24 July 2014 George Thorne out for 9 months 'kin 'ell. Did Derby sign him before that happened or not? Massive blow to their promotion hopes IMO.

Corky Posted 24 July 2014 Share Posted 24 July 2014 Awful news about a promising player. Derby fans absolutely rave about him (quite worrying how much so on Twitter) so that is a huge blow for them.
Bryn Posted 24 July 2014 Share Posted 24 July 2014 Awful news for him and Derby. Imagine Ulloa did his ACL on Saturday (touch wood he doesn't), that's basically the equivalent. We'd be ****ing devastated.

SystonFox Posted 24 July 2014 Share Posted 24 July 2014 It is a horrible injury. I've got 3 of them! 2 x left knee, 1 x right knee. Unlucky son. The whole of derby is now on Will "not albino" Hughes

Tielemans63 Posted 24 July 2014 Share Posted 24 July 2014 Hate to see that happen to anyone. I did my cruciate when I was 20 - it's absolute agony. Hope he makes a full recovery.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 24 July 2014 Share Posted 24 July 2014 Derby had a really good midfield last season with Thorne, along with the likes of Bryson and Hughes, plus one or two others, Hendrick etc. They had a good balance to the side which helped them, especially from Feb onwards. Hope Thorne gets well soon, nasty injury.

kingcarr21 Posted 25 July 2014 Share Posted 25 July 2014 Blackpool. its disgraceful whats happening at Blackpool. Got to be odds on to finish bottom of the league
Langston Posted 25 July 2014 Share Posted 25 July 2014 Aware that that letter is probably a hoax, but I always thought Belokon was fairly hands on with regards to Blackpool? Going back a few years, when they had Gorkss and the like.
RedSoxUK Posted 25 July 2014 Share Posted 25 July 2014 Holloway and DJ were promoted when Yann chipped it - Don't think they deserved to be promoted or even in that top 6, but as a 2nd tier professional football team, it's sad to see them have just a few players on their books. 8 1st team players... I assume they'll draft in 5 youth players to fill their numbers, and then sign 10 - 15 free agents. Right now, they're going down without a chance, our development squad would play better and finish higher than Blackpool. We should loan them Barmby / Hopper / Pearson etc.

I don't take much notice of pre season results, but I literally can't see Pearce doing anything there. They'll probably struggle, along with Leeds.
