Nick Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 I suspect Pearson met with the player and went cold on the signing shortly after.
Robin JD Popley Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 If what WalesOnline said is true, we may well hear something today or over the weekend mate. A lot of our news this close season has been broken mid afternoon to early evening, so perhaps we may hear something later today. Can't imagine either side wanting this to get dragged out too much longer, and it seems he is keen to join us despite late 'interest' from Palace so I'm quietly confident he will join soon. As above, I quoted the interest from Palace the other day, but it looks like he wants to come to us. Can't remember where I saw this but I wouldn't worry just yet, remember... Transfer window opens officially on Tuesday!
VLC86 Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 I suspect Pearson met with the player and went cold on the signing shortly after. Or his agent wants the deal sorted and is putting the pressure on
kingfox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 This is taking quite a while tbh, talks might have stalled somewhere. Surely doesn't take like a month to negotiate, this is like Maynard saga all over again.
chapero82 Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Who ever our negotiator is seriously takes ages it has took NP etc to sign look at man poo etc even west brom n Cardiff bid and a couple of days later the player has signed the contract
sylofox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Thinking we may miss out on this one now. Whatever the reasons we should be looking to finish deals quicker than this. If the player was dragging his heel's praps we should have pulled out before now.
dpjfox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 probably either Campbell or Nugent. Im not surprised at our slow transfer dealings, although this time we appear to have the funds and we had a headstart in most of our rivals by clinching promotion so soon. In an ideal world the new squad should be assembled for the start of pre season training, but alas it never is.
lgfualol Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Well it's not surprising when you consider how long it took to get new contracts for Kasper, Nuge and even the manager.
Ric Flair Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 The Mahrez deal took a lot longer than it should and nearly fell through. Must be this Robinson twat.
LCFC FOX Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Or Robinson is just sensible and when he has a certain wage cap he doesn't go over it
Ric Flair Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Or Robinson is just sensible and when he has a certain wage cap he doesn't go over it That'll count for nothing when we're in a relegation dog fight and the fans turn again. There'll be endless drivel on here about not doing enough to bring in players in the summer. Hopefully Nigel will see to it though.
sphericalfox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 It could down to number of reasons: Holidays. Campbell has been on holiday (still is on holiday). No discussion about an offer with the player directly, only through agent. Competition. We are not the only one who have put down the wanted release clause. Contracts offers are still in negotiation. Contract. There is no competition. Contract is being negotiated. Contract offered. Contract was offered/negotiated and a final offer was turned down for whatever reason. Wage/clauses/agent fees. Could be a multitude of things. Publicity. We've signed him, and the club feel that is such an acquisition (and also to boost the ego of the player) a bigger occasion will be made of the signing in line perhaps with purchased/signed player. I'm not sure which I'd put my money on, as any of them are plausible, some more likely than others. Best to chill out, and leave all the stressing to NP and staff.

No stress here just think this has taken too long now palace have walked in on it.

No can do Sylo.... we need to know now, without Campbell were doomed!!!
Strokes Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 If i was campbell and i had seen us play, id pick us over palace anyway. Our style is more suited for a pacey stiker and the likelyhood is, he would be more fruitful here. Having made mistakes in his career over club choice, you would hope things like this would be a big sway.

Modern footballers generally appear to think exclusively in pounds, shillings and pence (or Euro's)
suffolk fox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 If you are only willing to pay peanuts in wages for a player you get exactly that................peanuts.
HankMarvin Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 If you are only willing to pay peanuts in wages for a player you get exactly that................peanuts. I thought you get monkeys?
LCCFox96 Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 If you are only willing to pay peanuts in wages for a player you get exactly that................peanuts. Supposing Campbell is at the top end of our alleged £30,000 per week wage budget, I highly doubt Palace will have blown our offer out of the water and offered much north of that sum, if indeed they have matched us at all. Still hopeful for this deal and confident that if Campbell wants it then it will go through.
Callabinho Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 I wouldn't be bothered at all, swiftly move on to a better target.

johnny the fox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Hasn't the 30k been smashed by both Schmeichel and NFP? If its only down to the money he gets I don't want him here..
LCFC31 Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Hasn't the 30k been smashed by both Schmeichel and NFP?Exactly. The wage cap is just a rumour. It has not been confirmed by the club which probably means this supposed 30k a week limit is made-up.
