Grandad. Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I'm off out to support the boys, see you all tomorrow where I will either be arse licking every Liverpool players performace or slating them, Hodgson and wishing the world would end. ENGLAND.
foxfanazer Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 People banging on about Rooney must play in the number 10 role, he's shit there for England! Play him up front or not at all, preferably the latter. We can win this one but Gerrard and Henderson really need to protect our weak back four. It's gonna be tough but I think we'll just about edge it
LAprice_ Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 It's strange really because I've only heard one pundit (Gordon Strachan) mention the most obvious tactical decision regarding Rooney, etc... Rotation! Play Rooney, Sterling and Welbeck behind Sturridge and let all four of them rotate positions. For example, Welbeck can track back for a bit on the left and then he can go up top and let Sturridge track back, etc... Assuming we always keep one man up, just rotate between the four. This gives players a chance for a breather and also stops the single man up front becoming isolated. But what do I know, I'm just another football fan who thinks he knows best.
Legend_in_blue Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Id be more worried about the defence than the attack to be fair. Conditions favour a more consistent and lasting attacking display than in the previous game so for me, it's the defence that needs to be called into question.
Vacamion Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 1. This evening's drinking has commenced (drinking at home - all the pubs will be full of 'Uruguay fans'). 2. I have a bad feeling about this evening. The football, not the drinking. I hope I'm wrong. Come on England.

According to Roy that was the tactic against Italy and I'm sure he said just before the tournament that ultimately that's how he wants the front four to play.
Strokes Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I couldn't see us winning a game before the tournament started, I'm a little bit more optimistic after the Italy game. Think a draw, I hope we can beat them. I hope Rooney can finally arrive on the biggest stage but I won't hold my breath. Come on England!
kingfox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Not surprised to see the same side. Would of tried to fit Milner in there, but Gerrard & Rooney are never getting dropped, and Welbeck after the first game doesn't deserve to be dropped himself, he played well. But still an attacking line up, which I'm not that confident about, can see Cavani & Suarez tearing us apart.
theessexfox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Unchanged side, Rooney down at number 10 as expected.
Dr The Singh Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Urugauy will improve!! England have reacehed there peak, I see us losing!!
Fox92 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Don't think Uruguay will be as bad as they were against Costa Rica. Same England team, not sure what to make of that. Just hope Rooney is behind Sturridge.
Tielemans63 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I'm nervous as shit already. Weird feeling though as I don't feel optimistic nor filled with dread. Really can't call this one.

Just hope Rooney is behind Sturridge. I must be one of few who remember his equally ineffective performances playing that position in the friendlies a few weeks ago.

Salieri Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 England are gonna win, Rooney's gonna play a blinder, COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vacamion Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I truly detest ITV. I should have waited til 19.55 to avoid this shite. Wonder if they''ll cut the game off to show adverts again?
Unabomber Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I truly detest ITV. I should have waited til 19.55 to avoid this shite. Wonder if they''ll cut the game off to show adverts again? Nah surely not they will surely show us both teams and formations, surely.
Unabomber Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Nah surely not they will surely show us both teams and formations, surely. Oh they went to adverts.
AKCJ Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 imagine not caring about england It's not that I don't care about England. It's similar to how I feel with the Tigers. I want them to win, but at the end of the day. I'm really not going to lose sleep over it. Some on here saying how nervous they are, I'm really not fussed. I don't think I'm the only one here who thinks that way. I'm just sick of the English media during World Cups and European Championships. The side is clearly not good enough yet the press is quick to get on their backs. I'm just hoping that they'll put on a good show, play good attacking football and that it'll be an enjoyable game.
Beliall Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 That was the worst I have ever heard our anthem sung at a tournament
