Narborough_fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 A performance to build on to say the least. Could have been oh so different if Nugent took his chances but it's hopefully a performance that will help the players confidence, even if we did lose.
dayday Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We have to take the positives out of today, need to get reinforcements in asap
Harry - LCFC Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nugent FFS! Moore sliding in when there was no need! FFS! Can't be too disappointed overall though. Four first team players (probably) out and we play like that? Not bad IMO.
EnglishOxide Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Real shame about the Nugent miss. That was the turning point. If you open up and attack a team like Chelsea you best make your chances count. Oh well. Onto the next one. Hope Hammond is OK.
Matt Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 A disappointing result (Disappointing isn't the right word to use I don't think, but not sure what to say! I reiterate please don't shoot me down for using that word, I can't think of the right word to use! ) but sounded like a good performance from what I heard and saw via a stream. Can't believe Nugent didn't score, on two occasions, that I am quite disappointed with if i'm honest, you don't get many chances against the likes of Chelsea, you must take them. Anyway, draw a line under this one, we knew a draw was an unlikely result albeit that's what we were hoping, we held them off for a long time and played well, can't really criticise much, move on a look for the big 3 points against the Arseholes next week! This is going to be a big week though, we need signings, no panic buys, no need to panic as such but we do need signings, we need a few players and quality players in, fuck chasing Cambiasso imo if he really wanted to come here he'd have signed already fuck him off a focus on quality players who want to come and play for this club, we need them in.
lcfcjw16 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We desparately need to sign either Cambiasso or Diaz this week! Nearly every team will lose at stamford bridge this season, so I wouldn't worry. Good performance
J.Lisemore Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Really proud of the lads today. Played brilliantly against a top side. Could easily have been a different result if Nuge had taken his chance. Not to be. We move on.
Kitchandro Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We did well, but were let down by individual mistakes. Schlupp was completely at fault for the first goal, he did not track back quickly enough. I find his style of 'defending' very infuriating, he doesn't close down very well and jogs back rather than sprinting. He's quick but unfortunately he's as thick as owt. I can't stand him tbh. Other than that we put in a very respectable display, but Nugent cannot miss chances like that. Oh well, we move on. Knocky back in for Schlupp against Arsenal and if Vardy is fit he should replace Nugent.
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Absolutely no shame in losing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Were well in the game for an hour without resorting to parking the bus, and with a bit of luck (or better finishing) we could have found ourselves 1 up. Today has highlighted even further though that we need more players. Looking at other results today though, I am feeling quite confident about the season.
Fox_in_a_Box Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Expected but respectable. We played well and the lads can take many positives from that performance. Can't wait for Drinky, James and Vardy to come back.
st albans fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Great performance - almost as if Nigel said to them at half time 'you've earned the right to play more open second half - go and show what u can do'. However, the club are not giving the players the support they deserve with the depth of the squad. Nigel said before the game that it's his job to give the players the best chance of performing. I assume it's the boards job to give Nigel the tools to do that. Something isn't right somewhere. I course we won't always have three midfielders out injured but then again we might!! Well done fellas. Proud of them all.
Haydos Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 They really will. They shouldn't. King and Hammond were faultless today. Obviously have to see how Hammond's injury is first but there's no reason for James to come back in right away. The only thing that would make sense is Drinks coming in for Kingy for a bit more creativity.
lilsmig Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Against a team that many would put money on to win the league, I think we did well untill the first goal, we was holding them and giving as good as we got. Best thing for me was the way we tried to attack and not sit back and invite pressure, all in all a good game with alot of possitives regardless the result... Oh and we need a cm or 2 fast!
Jakemoore Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 First half we played a blinder but we can't afford to waste the chances that Nugent did. He'll have to sort that out or NP will drop him when Vardy is fit. We need a few players, that is obvious. NP, break the bank if need be.
Sir Shep Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Still disappointed to lose but of cause it's a result that was to be expected. Couple more signings and I thinks we will be fine, onwards and upwards.
yorkie1999 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Good perfomance against probably the best team in the division. Nugent should have scored. Gtf is not good enough for this league.
RowlattsFox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Got to be satisfied with that. Faded in the second half but competed and were in the game. Just lacked a final ball and hopefully that comes with easier games. Nugent has got to score the second but it is good goalkeeping. Only question is why knocky didn't come on instead of GTF. Encouraging.
Jimmy Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nugent wasted our best chances and showed no conviction in either attempt, why take Ulloa off for Wood? They could play together
xHamzah Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 The confidence shown by the team today was something to be proud of unfortunately not clinical enough in front of the one of best goal keepers around
STUHILL Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Want to defend Nugent a bit for that 1 on 1. He got ball under control well, had a look up and to his side to see if he had any support, then put his head down and struck it cleanly for the bottom right corner, but Courtois came out so quickly and made a very good save to his low left. Only thing Nugent could have done was to chip him I think but that would take Fabregas size balls!! I'm not worrying about Nugent just yet anyway!
Haydos Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We did well, but were let down by individual mistakes. Schlupp was completely at fault for the first goal, he did not track back quickly enough. I agree his tracking back looks lazy but that can be addressed.
MC Prussian Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 It was a great game with the expected outcome. We held up our own pretty well for just over an hour and then the difference in class showed. You let Chelsea take the lead and they'll then strangle you and dominate possession, seeing games out so easily. I can be very proud of this team, they ran their socks off and every single player put a real shift in for the collective good. Despite some injured players and a relatively lightweight and inexperienced squad, this Leicester City FC will have impressed a lot of people in England and worldwide. Schmeichel came up with some superb saves and cannot be faulted for the two goals against. They were both sort of lucky (read: deflected) in the build-up. Can't find something to critique with regards to our defense, King and Hammond in central midfield were pretty immense once more, Schlupp had a way better game than against Everton (he looked very composed today), Mahrez had a couple of convincing attacking inputs in particular in the first half. Nugent could've scored a goal today, but he was up against an in-form Courtois, who's just come back from a loan spell at Atlético Madrid. The attacking intent was there - but when you're facing defenders like Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta and Ivanovic, you're going to have a tough time, anyway. Onwards and upwards. The quality is there, now it's imperative to get a result against a "lesser" opponent.
Captain... Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 King and Hammond were immense, can't believe they held their own against that midfield for so long, defence was great as well. Disappointing that both goals we conceded mere avoidable but the most important thing is that when we get through this tough round of fixtures we aren't demoralised and but adrift. We can take a lot of positives from this game and that is important.
BlueSi13 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 No shame in this result, considering our (mounting) injury list this was a great performance for us to put in. But as others have said countless times, we are desperately in need of bodies. It's no longer relevant for some to keep banging the drum of 'oh they need to fit our system and our style of play before we sign them', we are running out of time and the club needs to act. Undoubtably the club has a list of players with known quality, what we need now is to open our chequebook and get them in, and THEN work with them and mould them into our style of play, otherwise with a couple more injuries the team coach will be a very very quiet place. If we can get the cover we need, based on what I've seen thus far, we will be dandy come May 2015
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Moore today showed us just how good he's going to be, unreal all game. Goal was just a mistake, two people get done by that dummy, but that's going to happen, and Nugent unlucky twice We were brilliant today and I'm proud of how we went about our business - but he wasn't unlucky with that chance, it was a horrid, horrid waste. King, Hammond, Morgan and Moore - superb.
