Robin JD Popley Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Extremely disappointed after today's game, just because I and all of us know, how much better we are than that but no one really seemed up for it on the pitch which was so bemusing - even after we went 1-0, then 2-1 up. Don't want to seem overly negative, yet, our defence is the one thing that could really pull us down this year if we don't stop conceding. Kasper is yet to have a clean sheet and we've only had one all season (including in the Cup). That, said, it's another point and when the dust settles hopefully it will be another point closer to keeping us in the Premier League.
dannythefox Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Exactly what I said last week, and it was my fear before last week, looks like it has continued. Needs nipping in the bud. They'll be up for Newcastle because it's a top stadium wouldn't surprise me if we got a point or better. Why we took Hammond off is beyond me my motm today quality in midfield!

RonnieTodger Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Why are people slagging off Schmeichel's part in the 2nd goal and not the 1st? I thought his position was the norm for a central free-kick. He got it wrong, but **** me, what was he doing on the first goal? It was shit from everyone but he seemed to stare at the ball when he really should've collected it. Burnley deserved at least a point from that. Fair play to them.
suffolk fox Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Thought we set up completely wrong for this game and the manager has to share the blame. Nugent always scores against Burnley on the bench? How the hell Hammond starts in midfield over the likes of Cambiasso, James and King is completely bewildering. Hammond not deemed good enougth for us in the. championship yet starts every game for us in the premiership? We allowed Burnley to play and they profited from it. Second half I thought we will have a go at them yet we failed to get that killer goal. Too many times we didn't push forward enougth and I got the impression we were happy with what we had and that was our undoing. James should have come on sooner than he did for Hammond as we were getting deeper and deeper. Why we pull everyone back for corners I will never know and Why we don't put defenders on the posts for set pieces? Annoyed and frustrated because we should have beaten these. They can't score we give them two goals. It was a championship spectacle and felt like a damp squid.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 That was incredibly frustrating. Last year we were so good at closing out that type of game. Jeff still looks very raw and massively inconsistent in the space of 20 minutes let alone a few games. Brilliant at times and doesn't look a professional footballer at others. Just find myself quite often thinking Lloyd should still be here. Drinky needed to control that second half but sadly it was the complete opposite. Pretty poor effort and a real shame. We haven't taken the initiative properly in any game yet in terms of controlling possession and creating chances over a period of time and that question mark will always be there until we do. Makes you wonder what Albrighton is doing in training when we're not creating good chances and they made such a song and dance about him creating more chances than almost anyone else in the Prem last season in relation to minutes played. We need to create more chances for Ulloa and we need to get Vardy in behind more. It shouldn't be as difficult as it looked today.
ian_marshall Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Threw that game away today. What was Schmeichel doing for the second?!? Really was a stupid decision which cost us the 3 points. I wasn't happy with his reaction afterwards blaming the wall, he has to look at himself and realise that it was his error. Yes the wall are there to try and prevent the ball hitting that side of the net, but it was obvious that if Wallace could get the ball over the wall and on target it was going to result in a goal even with very little pace on the ball as Kasper was poorly positioned. To be fair to Burnley I thought that they were worthy of the draw as we didn't ask enough questions today and they took their chances whilst they also seemed to show more desire. I really thought that we seemed very complacent and didn't take the opposition seriously enough which was very uncharacteristic of the lads. Let's hope that we can get back to winning ways after the international break.
Spiritwalker Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I think we might see Albrighton on the bench at Newcastle, Mahrez always seems to fade in the 2nd half and Knocky looked poor when he came on today.

Something that will always stick in my mind when we first signed him we had a few Leeds fans on here posting about him and they said he is always quick to blame others before himself.
J.Lisemore Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 How we allowed them to even score with Juke and Sordell on the pitch is a disaster tbh. They are such a Championship side its unreal. Disappointing result to say the least.
lgfualol Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 It's surprised me too, despite today I'd still say he's the most professional manager around so something has really irked him, probably Dyche. Probably throwing away 3 points
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Seen the goals. Kasper might as well stood on the corner flag
Gubbins Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Kasper obviously ****ed up for the second but he's still right to have a go at the wall as if it had bothered to jump they would definitely have blocked it.
Burbo17J2 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Pearson will sort them out, and have no mercy on Newcastle... The players will be looking to put them under as well, I trust them
sdb Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Interesting how Albrighton's stock rises when he doesn't play. Personally never rated him and can't help but feel the staff realise they've made a blunder signing him.
ian_marshall Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Kasper obviously ****ed up for the second but he's still right to have a go at the wall as if it had bothered to jump they would definitely have blocked it. I take your point, but where he's positioned himself he's not even forced Wallace into having to think about where to he has to place the ball or how much pace to put on the ball. It's quite literally a case of if you can hit that area of the goal then you've scored. Yes, maybe the wall could have done better but he organised the wall and there was a man stood just to the left of the wall (keepers left - think it was Vardy) not marking anyone so why didn't Kasper demand him to position himself on the goal line in that corner? A man on the line would have at least given Wallace something to ponder.
Corky Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Should've won the game, played well in the first half, didn't get a grip on the second and always allowed Burnley a chance to get something. Two points definitely thrown away.
Mark Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Interesting how Albrighton's stock rises when he doesn't play. Personally never rated him and can't help but feel the staff realise they've made a blunder signing him. They make the same blunder every season, usually when checking out the free transfer list. Neilson, Kennedy, Whitbread, Bakayogo, Albrighton, Upson? Good job they have a decent overall record
Larry_LCFC Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I find Schlupp such an incredibly frustrating player. He has the pace, and he shows glimpses of brilliance, but my god his shooting is dreadful. Needs some serious work in the final third, otherwise he will never make it.
Lookatthebluesky Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Kasper is a good shot stopper and also good in 1v1 situations (a bit like his father) but where he's sadly lacking is his ability to command his box and I am beginning to believe that he is at the root of our defence's inability to deal with set pieces and crosses in general. Morgan and Moore have proved to be steady central defenders but I think that they lack confidence when the ball is crossed in and this is due to the fact that Kasper is little more than a 'blow-football keeper' as he patrols across his line and rarely comes to take crosses with any degree of confidence. He remains a good keeper at Championship level but he lacks the stature of his father and I fear that he will only ever be an average premiership keeper (his distribution and general kicking game seems to be getting worse too). The team were poor all-round today and never did enough to put the game to sleep when they had the opportunities but there's no doubt that Kasper was badly at fault for both goals. I am tired of seeing his 'starfish' jump - he looked like he could have picked up the first situation before the shot even came in had he been more assertive and as others have said his positioning for the second was woeful - looking on from SK3 all the guy had to do was to get the ball over the wall and there was no way that Kasper could make up that ground. He needs to dominate his six yard box and rarely does!

As for the second, his positioning was dreadful. Hamer was dropped for a clean sheet. .
Callabinho Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 De laet needs dropping more than anyone, his anticipation and reading of the game is piss poor, really and truly awful.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I think, after today, Andy King must be wondering what he's done wrong? Drinkwater, usually the best of our midfield IMO, was poor today.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Ive not posted much today, having been out on the piss. But I'm not surprised what I'm reading, from the usual suspects. These games happen and will continue to do so. Its a marathon, not a sprint. And get some balance people. We were a free kick (beautifully taken) away from being 6th tonight. That's 6th..in the Premier League. Shit happens. No game in this division is easy.
MPH Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Burnley fans celebrating like they've won a cup final, how did we not win. If their cup final is a point away to Leicester then they have a long hard season ahead of them....
