Babylon Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Are you that naive? Money talks and we've got truckloads of the stuff. To say that Danny Ings is the best we can get is nothing short of insulting. Please stop talking, you are making us look stupid. We don't have much money, I'd have thought that was abundantly clear by now.
Babylon Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 42 shots 4 goals = goalscorer. 24 shots 6 goals = not a goalscorer. 4 goals in half a season is pretty crap whichever way you look at it. 6 is only marginally better, which is why we'll both go down and neither of our strikers are worth anything like 8 million pounds. 4 goals in 15 isn't bad in this league at all. So is 6 in the games Ulloa has played. You only have to look at what the likes of Long and Jelavic keep going for to see that players scoring 6-10 goals a season can fetch big money in this league.
Claridge Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 why don,t we put realistic bids in? Pissed about in the summer and missed out,now doing it again.
lgfualol Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 No way has Ulloa had 24 shots. They didnt mean shots, they meant touches. 24 touches.
Callabinho Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 I bet Dyche is pissing himself, firstly we claim we're a better club in every way, then we try to steal their best player haha.

Eh, if Ulloa could maintain that sort of conversion rate for a season, playing every game and getting two chances a game, he'd be a twenty goal striker. He's a good goalscorer, the problem lies in the service.

He's a good goalscorer, the problem lies in the service. His lack of mobility suggests he'll never make it at this level, and is the main reason why he's contributed next to nothing since his first few games. Not that the rest of the side has either though. But I still think we paid twice of what he's worth, a decent championship striker.

Not that the rest of the side has either though. But I still think we paid twice of what he's worth, a decent championship striker. He's contributed next to nothing since the first 5 games because the service stopped coming. There's a few simple stats here - a goal from every four shots. Even given 2 chances a match (which seems low), he'd end the season near the top of the highest scorer charts. It's not about running round like a headless chicken, it's about scoring. Have people still not learnt that after the past ten years? Oh, and mobility doesn't really matter that much if the service is coming in. Look at Van Nistelrooy - one of the greatest goalscorers this division has seen: he hardly moved outside the box unless it was necessary.
Father Ted Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I reckon this is just Nigel playing games with Burnley, trying to unsettle Ings. We all know how it works.
Claridge Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I reckon this is just Nigel playing games with Burnley, trying to unsettle Ings. We all know how it works.I'd like to think he's focusing on how to stop this car crash of a season and how he's managed to allow a team like burnley to be above us. Stupid playing games and pissing about with the team after the Man U game is why we're in trouble ,so yes perhaps he's not focused on the job

CloudFox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I reckon this is just Nigel playing games with Burnley, trying to unsettle Ings. We all know how it works.I'm pretty sure Nige has come out in public before saying that he does not approve of this kind of thing, so I'm not sure he would to be honest.Ings would be a good foil for Ulloa though.
yorkie1999 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 If we're serious about ings I think were signing for the championship next season.
Jace Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Wherever its for the Championship or Premiership would be a good signing but can't see it happening tbh
Fox92 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Don't want to be paying £7.5million for a striker who is out of contract, regardless of his prolific goalscoring record in the second tier.
lcfcsnow Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Don't want to be paying £7.5million for a striker who is out of contract, regardless of his prolific goalscoring record in the second tier. Is he even prolific? He's had one good season and in the previous two he scored a grand total of 6 goals so who's to say that wasn't just a flash in the pan.
ScouseFox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 another goal for ulloa and another blank for goalscorer supreme danny "GOALS" ings.
theessexfox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Ings is a good player, better than Vardy and Nugent.
Richard Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 May be out of contract but Burnley would still be entitled to a compo fee
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Ings is a good player, better than Vardy and Nugent. Well, given the fact he's five to seven years young than our two strikers you've mentioned, Ings surely has more potential. But then again, I bet Burnley said the same about Nugent a couple of years back.
sylofox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'm pretty sure Nige has come out in public before saying that he does not approve of this kind of thing, so I'm not sure he would to be honest. Ings would be a good foil for Ulloa though. So we did not put in a bid for deeeeeeneeey in the summer to force through Ulloa. Nige may claim things but he knows shite comes out why not use it. Right now I would put nothing past us burnley being easy as in the champioship we could pay more than them in the prem. And Ings knows that
Robin JD Popley Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Always been a big fan of Danny Ings but I think it would take a lot to get him here. That said, if we could get him here, he would fill the quota of 1 of 2 needed Strikers. Also, it is imperative we get some wingers/influencing midfielders to help Cambiasso's vision and Drinkwater/James and defenders in January.
dsr-burnley Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Well, given the fact he's five to seven years young than our two strikers you've mentioned, Ings surely has more potential. But then again, I bet Burnley said the same about Nugent a couple of years back. No, we didn't. We said he isn't good enough for the Premier League. He played all season because we hadn't anyone better to partner Steven Fletcher. (Martin Paterson and Steve Thompson were both injured for much of the season.)
