I was at the Newcastle match and I felt the crowd were just as much celebrating Vardy scoring as they were Leicester going 1-0 up.

 

I turned round and caught the eye of someone else and we just gave a big grin to each other without talking, it was a beautiful moment.  :blush:

There is a point about Vardy though. He is exceptional at playing on the shoulder and running into space. What he doesn't have as a striker is the kind of skill or trickery to beat a player in tight situations.

With the current England team, playing slow build up and teams sitting off them, Vardy does look lost at times.

IF the England team played a counter attacking, high pressing style, utilising the embarrassment of dishes we have in quick attackers, we would be a much more effective team and Vardy would be an integral part of that.

However, it isn't going to happen!!

Vardy is a good English striker, playing in a system that plays to his strengths at Leicester.

My fear for him, if he goes to another team, (a perennial "top 4" club) is that he won't get the same style of play and may struggle.

 

I'd respect England's style more if we were effective but we just will not beat a Germany, Spain or France at a tournament playing the way we do. Hodgson needs to accept we're an underdog against these sides. It's embarrassing how much better Spain move the ball than us. England really could learn a lot from Leicester, we're underdogs and we know we are. Hodgson seems to think we're about as good as some of these sides.

I am going to cry if he scores - in front of people. I know it. (Mind you - not if we are 0-4 down)

If we're 0-4 down I'll be crying anyway.

I've gone for a 3-2 win in the prediction league at work, but in reality with the best defence in the league vs. one of the best attacks, and one of the worst defences vs. one of the worst attacks, it could easily be 1-0 either way.

Saying that though, our defence has improved somewhat, and I'm convinced Vardy's going to do it. Convinced.

It would surely be a false economy to sell Vardy.

 

We would be a weaker team without him and would undoubtedly finish lower in the PL table at the end of the season.  Given that the difference in place-related merit payments was over £25 million between 1st and 20th last season and could be more this year we could lose anything from £5 million to £10 million as a rough estimate from that future revenue were he to leave.  Add on any sell-on fee due to Fleetwood and that would further reduce the income.

 

So IMO there is little financial sense in selling.

I think he speaks excellently. Honest, straightforward and articulate, the latter of which not many outside Leicester would consider him!

Cant believe anyone is doubting Rooney's position in the team, let alone the squad. On form, he's the best player we have by miles. Always used to say England have had 3 genuinely world class players recently, Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard and Rooney. We have to build our team around our best players because, realistically, Roy doesn't pick solely on form. If he did, then he's a complete retard considering that he's ever picked Andros Townsend.
