Vardy and England

Recommended Posts

Don't know if anybody's read it but Jonathan Liew (pretty decent Telegraph journalist) has written a long post on Facebook stating that Vardy is a racist who should be out of a job.

I just wrote quite a long post out which I've deleted because the attitude of many seems to be that any attempt to say anything other than "ban the racist thug" ends up being described as an apology for racism, but I do think that it's both an interesting and heartfelt take on the story from somebody who would understand it better than most and also a further symptom of the lack of empathy towards transgression that those commenting on real, flawed human beings have from behind a computer screen.

I get the feeling Vardy uses the word "chap" quite a lot, then he changed it to "Jap" when he was pissed up. I don't think there was anything in it. I have Japanese friends, so I wouldn't defend Vardy if I though he meant anything by it. Most journalists are self promoting twats and they are only happy when they are knocking someone that's doing well.

I thought he was ok until he was saying

"My view is this: racists should be pariahs. They should be punished with the full fist of the law and beaten down by the crushing yoke of public opinion. They should be out of a job. They should be out of friends. They should have to get on their knees and beg us all for forgiveness."

It's not like he attended an EDL rally then burned down a mosque. Even though he was an aggressive twat, he used a word that half of England probably don't realise is really quite offensive, there are a lot of people that do not think it is different to being called a "Brit". Also, if Vardy apologised, the guy accepted it and Vardy's been fined by the club, why should he go around on his hands and knees begging for forgiveness.

Here if anyone wants to pile in, he is getting a lot of flak, and not undeserved, he seems like a typical self promoting journalist bringing it all up again to get a load of attention which he now has:

He hasn't helped himself with some of his comments:

Jonathan Liew Wow, it's like a Lynx advert, but with all the hot women replaced by bellends.

It has been done to death on here, but I agree with him all racists should be shunned, but this is one of those cases where people forget what real racism is and using a nasty word in an argument does not make someone a racist, racism is believing one race/creed/colour to be inferior.

I really wish our fans wouldn't sing that cringeworthy "chat shit get banged" song.

When it was being sung in SK1 yesterday everyone around us said how embarrassing it was.

It only started yesterday after De Gea squared up to Vardy for chasing down a ball he was going for. Did you not see that or something?

Vardy on Sky"

Asked if he thought Leicester's ambitions match his own, Vardy said: "Yes I do. I think the gaffer has come in and told the owners what he wants to do, and he wants to keep progressing.

"He wants to progress on what we did last year and then, in the years to come, he wants to keep us going up and up and up. It is great for the club and he is a great manager.

"He comes across as quite funny sometimes because he has not got the full English language yet but he is brilliant for the players and the club in general."

Leicester are second in the table, only behind Manchester City on goal difference, and Vardy does not see why they cannot remain among the top clubs.

"I think we can but we have to make sure we keep putting in the work on the training field," he said.

"The boss says the target is 40 points, which the team understands perfectly, and that is our target too.

"Once we get there, depending on when that is, we will re-evaluate to see where we can finish. We will take each game as it comes and the next one is Swansea City away [on Saturday]."

Aw listening to Jamie on talkSPORT radio - this is the most comfortable and articulate I've ever heard him - what a sweetheart!!

Yeah I listened to that too and he came across great. Really humble and unassuming.

Vardy really has become something of a superstar hasn't he? He's appearing and being talked about everywhere.

I so hope we can keep him.

Former Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage says Manchester United should sign striker Jamie Vardy, who broke the record for scoring in consecutive Premier League matches at the weekend. Speaking on the Monday Night Club, the former Wales international said: "If I was Manchester United I would buy Vardy. He would offer pace."

Does  he  also  expect them  to completely change their style of play too?

You can't just buy someone fast and expect it to turn United into an exciting team, United  play patient (slow) possession (boring) football, it doesn't matter if someone has pace if nobody plays a ball behind the defence for them to run onto.

I don't want to say Vardy is one dimensional, but if you want to get the best out of him you play to his strengths, if you don't then he is a passenger, as proved by Hodgson.

That comment needs a tip of the hat, sir

Everytime I hear Vardy (when he's not in a casino, of course), it seems more and more clear his attitude is one of his best assets.

If he were to go, I'd be as worried about losing someone with that attitude who's so widely respected in the team.

To paraphrase, great skill is nothing without great attitude. He appears to have both!
