I don't remember them complaining about it. There were no penalty shoot-outs back then and both FA Cup and League Cup ties would go to replay after replay if necessary until a winner emerged. Every season there'd be at least one marathon tie that needed 3 or 4 replays to sort it out. Clubs almost always played their strongest team in every match then too and only 1 substitute per team was allowed.

Managers like Clough, Shankly, Paisley, Revie et al just got on with it and expected their players to do the same.

Pretty sure the replays were normally days apart too (add to that the fact subs may not have been a thing at that point). I certainly remember reading about the Bayern vs Atletico European final in the mid-70s. Bayern equalised for 1-1 in the 120th minute of final 1. They then played 2 days later and smashed Atletico 4-0. Nowadays players moan about 2 games in 3 days. Pretty sure it was much tougher back then too (harder tackles, different kit, heavy balls etc.)

This season, no side has conceded more shot attempts from dead balls, and no side has had fewer shots from their own set-pieces. In short, when it comes to set-plays, Leicester are the worst in the division no matter which box they’re in.

This is a continuation from last season. City conceded six more goals from set-pieces than they scored, and only Manchester United and Sheffield United ranked worse.

City’s record at home in the first half-hour of games now reads zero goals scored and four conceded. It is the worst in the division.

Terrible really.

It make you wonder what we are doing in training, because it certainly isn't enough set-piece practice.

The guy in charge of recruiting City's back room staff is a Mr Tay Tow. He misheard when Top said to him, "can you hire a coach pro, Tay Tow?"

Need to look at the goalkeeper. Out of position for the goal tonight. Five years ago he may have stopped that header.

It's hard to stomach, and might matter less to you if you're not so interested in analytics, but according to fbref.com, Kaspar has been the second worst keeper in the PL this year.
