Ulloa's Performance vs Stoke

Yes, he had been out of form the past few games, but most of you were way to quick to criticize and say he's not good enough for our squad.

He was immense today, didn't put a foot wrong, and we dominated the game after he came on. Hope today's performance and his goal helps his confidence. On form he is great, as he proved at the start and end of last season, and he offers something different, often causing confusion in the box on set plays.

Oh the irony of someone being quite happy to put games upon games of sub par performances to one side after a decent 20 minute display and then accuse others of being quick to judge lol

He was, to his credit, surprisingly effective today I'll give him that.

Stoke were utter tosh though, I'm not having the "we made them look bad" argument either. They were shit, gave the ball away under no or little pressure from us countless times. We put in a very good display very happy with it, but let's not pretend they weren't shite, management and fans will be gutted with their display today.

Stoke were probably looking to their Cup semi-final for all that they still covet a European place.

But whether that provides an excuse or not - and their manager didn't claim it as such - Leicester can only beat the team put in front of them whatever the circumstances and they did it pretty well.

Ulloa had a good 20 minutes and that's to be welcomed. I don't think he's as bad as some make out when properly involved but there's no pretending that today's cameo was more or less than what it was...and a standard and effect he needs to maintain.

It's clear to me our club is evolving rapidly.

Some players will respond to the new challenges and higher standards - Drinkwater's perhaps the outstanding example - while others will falter.

With Ulloa it depends how much he wants it and how hard he's prepared to improve his weaknesses while developing his strengths.

The standard he set last year needs to be the base-camp for this season. It wasn't that up to Christmas but maybe now he'll not only have more opportunity, but start realising what he might be throwing away if he doesn't continue to improve.

I hold my hands up to sighing when I saw him coming on for Shinji. I don't know why but he seemed rejuvenated maybe? Not sure if that's the right word to use. You could tell that goal meant a lot to him by his reaction.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. His form went out the window when he shaved off that little bit of hair under his bottom lip.

I'm sure I saw the beginnings of regrowth today.

It's called a 'soul patch', so you might have a point...

After a few under part performances of late it was good to see Leo put in a great shift in when he came on today and really pleased he knocked in the third FairPlay Leo have you been reading the Damning posts on here which has spurred you on ??

FairPlay hope it lasts for a long time !!

I think in this current squad, he offers a lot of value as a second-half sub. It's a shorter appearance so he can sprint and do his best to play Shinji's role, but he also offers an aerial threat and help closing out games that way.

Think he did OK, but he's played that poor this season, it's easy to say he's played well today, we are comparing it with shockers this season.

Credit to him he took the tap in mahrez gave him, but he's got to play a lot better to warrant a place on the bench, as and when the new striker comes in.

Who'd have thought he looks a totally different player in a system that suits him eh. Very happy for him to score too as I think he needed that.

He was decent today. Took his goal well, and worked hard. Hope he continues this.

It still doesn't change the fact that he's scored 2 league goals this season. That's not good enough, especially not for a side chasing Champions League football.

Ulloa and Dyer have been our worst performers this season. But I hope today gives him the confidence to kick on.

To be fair, if he can't deliver in a week when Ranieri's loaned out the fourth choice striker and said he's looking for a new one (meaning Leo is about to become the fourth choice) then he never will. Shinji was incredible today and Ulloa had to put a performance in so I'm glad he did.

I think he still has a part to play but it'll only be behind a new man, Vardy and Okazaki.

So glad he finally bagged one after his recent run of poor form. In the match thread I was hopeful for him to show his inner lion and lo and behold, he did! Just wish we could see more of today's Leo and much less of Villa-like or FA Cup-like Leo from now on. If Shinji can be consistent, perhaps it's not impossible for Leo.

Having support today helped but his touch and control was vastly improved, seemed to gain confidence from a little run of flicks then shot wide, clearly when in the box he'll take the chance and was there for his goal.

Totally agree with DanLCFC. Ulloa was basically given a suicide mission as a lone forward on Wednesday. Play to his strengths and he is a useful option, especially as an impact sub.

Eh, it's not as if he hasn't been woeful in the 4-4-2 either (bournemouth at home jumping straight to mind).

If he and Shinji, can now deliver some goals, its not the taking the strain from Vardy or Mahrez, but the extra

pressure, this team will put on the opponents, importantly against the big boys.

Seems as if he played with a lot of fire in his belly today. As if he knew he was bollocks on Wednesday and wanted to make up for it. He certainly did today, regardless of how bad Stoke were.

He did the simple things right and rounded it off with a goal. Right place, right time.

He played well today, but he is not the type of player to do it on a consistent basis so we still need a striker. However I think he can still have an important role with us, playing as an impact sub like he did today.
