"Well of course I was hesitant about joining the Premier League Champions, with the league's best scout, along with an unparalleled team spirit, champions league football, superb coaching staff, wonderful management and fanatic players.

But then I saw a ray of sunshine glistening on a beautiful lake in Rutland Water, reflecting onto a family frantically cycling around the lakes hoping their youngest hadn't managed to wander off and drown, and then I knew LCFC was for me."

They'll go where their relatively short career is best served, not wherever is prettiest, I'd imagine. And commute if they're not keen on the city, a la Drinky.

But what's this about Leicestershire's countryside? Manchester has the Pennines. Liverpool has north Wales coastline nearby. We have a bunch of fields. Get a grip.

What crappy Irish sea sewer filled coast or a few northern hills that spend most of

the year in cloud and rain

Think you should get a grip.Leicestershire has over 150 multi millionaires that chose to live in this wonderful county.

I seriously don't think 18 year old Ben Chilwell's motivation behind his next contract will be boiling down to which club has the best local countryside.

We have some absolutely sensational countryside, if you haven't seen it you need to get around your county a bit more.

Absolutely ridiculous talent...https://youtu.be/x1hSru53TYMYou're spot on!!!

He looks good but let's remember the level he's at, we all thought Stearman was going to play for England on performances in that division.

Best left back in the country is a bit of a way off yet, Luke Shaw was tearing up the Premier League at his age.

Depends if he's into rambling or not.

I'm always out and about the county at the minute for work, all over to random places I never knew existed. Some lovely little places out there but sadly not enough to keep Chilwell I don't think lol

He could probably get regular first team football here in a couple of years but seems like he wants a big move, his loss.

Please give the lad a chance. This could all be BS

I still don't understand why he wants to leave (if he actually does). He's playing for the premier league champions who will be in the champions league next year and for a manager who will give young players a chance if they're good enough. Why go to Liverpool who aren't in Europe at all where he will probably never play and will end up joining some mediocre championship club when his career doesn't progress. I know Klopp has used youth this season but that is because he had no other choice with the amount of games they had but with no Europe next year and a load of new signings likely to join, I doubt the youth players will play much next season

we need to keep our good young players and develop them to go into the first team, really frustrated that we can't seem to find a rashford type player in our development squad

The chances of having players like rashford in your development is actually very rare. Thousands of kids get released every year...just look at Vardy and Sheff Wed.

I honestly think chilwell is mad if he wants to leave us to go to Liverpool. As previous comments have said to leave us now to go there is suicide, he should wait at least one more year...

In all fairness had Man U transfers not have been a total shambles the last couple of seasons and they'd been playing well with no injuries we probably wouldn't have heard of rashford for another 3/4 years when chances are he would have done the whole lower league loans before being shipped out for a minimal fee

You're quite right. Leicestershire's countryside is appalling. Nothing worth seeing or doing at all.  Quite why I've maintained a chalet in Swithland for so long is bordering on the insane!

Instead let's hear it for the resorts of the North Welsh coast, such centres of elegance in an amusement arcade or chip shop setting they make Conway seem like paradise.

Oh yes and after 7pm come the end of September, that North Wales coast is virtually closed. Even the dual carriageway which hugs closer than a teeshot to the seafront goes so quiet they could probably graze sheep on it til morning.

I remember going to the cinema in Rhyl (or Prestatyn) early one autumn.

My wife and I were the only people in there until a young couple walked in and sat on the back row. I quite envied the randy pair until both got up, opened a little door in the wall alongside them, and completed their shift as projectionists!

When I enquired afterwards about where we might get a decent meal (around 9pm) the receptionist just smiled and said "you won't get anything now til breakfast - unless you head for bed."

"Breakfast it is then," said my wife.

tbf liverpool is one of, if not the best city in the world, can't blame any young, rich kid wanting to go and live there. what a time for him to be alive.

also the north west coast is nothing to do with liverpool lol. that's like saying you wouldn't go to leicester because there's bad areas in milton keynes. they're miles away.
