Chilwell

Chilwell apparently injured for England U21.

I think if Liverpool are offering 4mn we should just keep him for another year as back up to Fuchs on his low contract and let him go free if he wants next year.  We would be paying at least 2mn in wages for his replacement anyway.

we'd still get compensated for his development as he's younger than 24...

To everyone in football including players like Chillwell we fluked the league, will get hammered in the Champions League and settle back into mid table obscurity. Other teams therefore offer more long term chance of success. It's not Rocket folks.

Except Liverpool aren't in Europe. He'll have more chance here this upcoming season as 2nd choice LB than at Liverpool as 2nd? 3rd? choice. Then next year he can choose where to go, what if Liverpool aren't in Europe still.

I'm not so sure I would call it a fluke just yet. We played a different style that other possession type teams struggled to deal with. We will have to see how the next season goes & see if we pull a Chelsea & just fade away . Our player such as Fuchs, Schmeichel, Mahrez etc bring us a lot of respect from other players in the league & may make us a place that young players would like to be.

tbf liverpool is one of, if not the best city in the world, can't blame any young, rich kid wanting to go and live there. what a time for him to be alive.

also the north west coast is nothing to do with liverpool lol. that's like saying you wouldn't go to leicester because there's bad areas in milton keynes. they're miles away.

I went to Liverpool in 1999 on a Wednesday evening and it was shut.

Hope that is an attempt at some sort of bizarre humour? We won the league by 10 points and lost 3 times all season....no fluke at all.

Who knows what will happen in champions league but i for one think we will get out of our group.

Isn't the Huddersfield manager klopp's old assistant at Dortmund ? he may well have advised him to sign Ben and not to take no for an answer.

It's been well reported that this is why klopp is after him

Not humour no. Neither my opinion. It is however the view of many pundits, players and managers.

Pundits - Like Lawro and co?!

Players - Like Scholsey, great player but now all round rent-a-gob-shite

Managers - Like Wenger who let Kante and Mahrez slip under his indepth knowledge of the french league nose.

Someone told me last week that many off licences/corner shops in parts of

Liverpool have locked doors because so many 'scallys' run in, nick stuff off shelves etc and fook off! The owner has to let people in when he's sure it's OK to do so..

Is there any truth in this?

But Liverpool players do not live in Liverpool. I believe in leafy Cheshire?

nah no more than saying some of our players live in cheshire. not sure about now but in the glory days all the spanish/euro lads under benitez (torres, reina, kuyt, even as recent as suarez) all lived in south liverpool. some live in the posh parts of merseyside. there are ridiculously nice parts of both the city and the "county".

I'm sure they all thought that when their houses were robbed while they played abroad...

ha probably not, not really anything to do with the areas though. robbers gonna rob. i'd bet all the stuff they robbed that the robbers weren't from where they robbed. don't shit on your own doorstep etc.

Do Liverpool really offer more chance of long term success? They have the 'name' admittedly but teams like Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd overtook them because they outspent them. Should they wish to invest their money in players, our owners make Liverpool look like paupers now. Liverpool have a past name and currently a very good manager going for them that's all and their current squad in inferior to ours and would need more recruitment than us which they haven't got the finances for.

As yet, Klopp really hasn't improved Liverpool at all.

Yes of course he may over time, but they finished 8th and trophyless. They could have done that under Rodgers. And likely would have finished higher in the league.

Liverpool played 61 competitive games, 15 of them in Europe. What happened is they tried to fight on 4 fronts and came up with nothing. 2 cup finals and they went out of the FA cup in the 121' in a month they were playing twice a week every week as they were fighting on 4 fronts in 1 month. I can't see Rodgers getting them to the Europa League final and the adage is a European campaign sacrifices 10 points in the league. They likely would have finished higher and maybe even challenged for 4th had they just ****ed off in Europe.

He also didn't bring in a single player in the transfer window preferring to bide his time and see what he has already. Let's judge him next season when he has his own players at the club.

Liverpool are a massive club and to any player would look to have far more long term hope of winning trophies than we do. That may change over time but right now the so-called big clubs in England still have more power to attract players. Hopefully our success and the sheer amount of money pouring into the league will break this for ever and clubs like Liverpool could be relegated but I'm not confident things will change.
