shade Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 nah no more than saying some of our players live in cheshire. not sure about now but in the glory days all the spanish/euro lads under benitez (torres, reina, kuyt, even as recent as suarez) all lived in south liverpool. some live in the posh parts of merseyside. there are ridiculously nice parts of both the city and the "county". nah lots used to live on the wirral, the paradise peninsula.
UPinCarolina Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 If he leaves, we'll likely use the £7 million to help buy a high-quality replacement. It may not all be so bad.
foxpleasure Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 A lesson learnt. Never loan out anyone to Huddersfield ever again. I agree! What was their manager playing at recommending our player to Klopp when he was on loan to them.
NewEnglandFox Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I dont get this argument. In the lower leagues you play two games a week, every week, for an entire season. These are professional players with the very best sports science teams around them, they should be more than capable of playing two games a week. Not to metion that teams in the past did it, teams won trebles in 90s and they wouldn't have had the sports science research we have now to keep them fit. In the lower leagues you're playing twice a week but you can expect your opponent is as well. These are just supplemental games. If the upcoming opponent isn't also playing in Europe, they'll have 7 or 8 days to rest and prepare while the Europa team has to do the cycle twice in the same timeframe. That's where the disadvantage is coming from.
sylofox Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I agree! What was their manager playing at recommending our player to Klopp when he was on loan to them. A HUGE BACK HANDER. Would you not do it?
Out Foxed Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Get that Rico Henry fella in. Never seen him play, just like his name.

That's where the disadvantage is coming from. I still don't buy it. Professional footballers shouldn't need 7 days to recover. You do lighter training sessions and recovery sessions through the week to compensate for the extra game time played. I refer you back again to when teams like united or pool won trebles in the top flight. That's not taking into account the other positives of games in a row, such as momentum, less thinking/dwelling time etc. Of course i see your point, supposedly teams that didn't play on wednesday should be fresher for the weekend, but we all know it does not necessarily work that way.
EnglishOxide Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Liverpool lining up Gibbs apparently. It may mean that they have given up the chase, but that Arsenal will step up the chase.
Max Power Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Would be quite funny if after all the invenctive in this thread he stayed and Vardy, Mahrez and Kante left.
st albans fox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Scouse journo tweets that we rejected 7 mill bid
Soar Fox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 According to the Telegraph we have rejected a £7 million bid and are holding out for £10 million. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/21/leicester-reject-7m-liverpool-bid-for-left-back-ben-chilwell/
Babylon Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Might as well keep him, at the current rate it will cost us £78.5 million to buy a league one left back replacement.
1972 Fox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Might as well keep him, at the current rate it will cost us £78.5 million to buy a league one left back replacement. This. Watford and Burnley appear to be rejecting overpriced bids from us for their players which is a way of saying they are not for sale. We should be doing the same for any player of ours that we don't want to leave.
EnglishOxide Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 I really want him to sign a new contract. I know he's not really proven anything at senior level but I've just got s feeling he is class. Would hate to see him play 15-20 games next season then leave on a free.

A smaller one yes but we still get something
JAPANFOX1 Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Get rid!! Reminds me of Joe Mattock with his Instagram shots of topless lads in the sun. I see him as another Jack Grealish - all the fame and hype with nothing to back it up. Take 7 million.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Can't understand why a player who's been with the club for years and years and has come through the academy appears so desperate to leave at possibly the best time ever to be breaking through. It must leave a bit of a sour taste in the club's mouth. Wouldn't mind seeing the club play hardball with this one. Refuse to sell, keep him for a year and let the tribunal decide what the fee is a year down the line. Unbelievable to have a kid and his agent calling the shots after the season we've just had.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 We should play hard ball with this one. Only way we should let him go is if we get a very very decent offer. If Liverpool don't get another left back come the end of the window then they may get desperate and stump up a lot of cash
adamm8 Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 We haven't actually put a price on how much we want for Chilwell http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/leicester-city-transfer-news-city-have-not-put-a-sale-price-on-teenage-defender/story-29431925-detail/story.html

I totally agree with you. He's an excellent talent and certain to replace Fuchs. But I suspect he's been badly advised by his agent. He will get game time next season as Fuchs can't play every game. Just give him 20 to 30 k a week to keep him happy while his chance arrives. That's only a mil or two to keep him as against losing him and having to spend ten of millions to replace him. It's not a difficult decision, he has to stay.
