AjcW Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 I honestly think Boro have been the worst premier league side in recent memory (excluding Derby) I often look at relegated sides and think 'at least they gave it a go' and I'd even put Sunderland in that category, they've attacked at times they just can't defend Boro have been painfully boring, had little or no tactical ideas and have wasted an experienced target man by having no one to play off him! Madness. Pleased to see them go down and I've never really said that about a team. He might be the nicest chairman but he needs to grow a set and start being more ruthless with managers!

Tuna Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Lets not forget the 05/06 Sunderland team that finished on 15 points under Mick McCarthy.

brucey Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-agnew-asked-gaston-ramirez-12943464 Not that we'll be interested in Ramirez anymore, but apparently when we turned his head in Jan and he threw a strop after they wouldn't sell, it destroyed his form, and that might have been what ultimately sent Boro down
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 I was so pleased we didn't get Ramirez, painfully average

Can they show this fact on the weekend after they show how spurs are in first place over the last two seasons. You know another useless stat that means fook all
Chico1958 Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 Derby County 2007-2008 History says it all.............. they were bad
Ric Flair Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 Funnily enough the dog muck Aston Villa of last season and the abysmal Middlesborough of this season gave us a bit of bother over the 4 fixtures and resulted in only 1 win! Hahaha

Guest Col city fan Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 I wouldn't judge a player like Ramirez this season, playing for Middlesbrough. They are an AWFUL side with a manager that has proven clueless in the Premiership and simply sets them up defensively to try to not concede. Ramirez would never flourish playing this way. He's a bit like a poor man's Gylfi and would only show anything if playing in an attack minded team.

What's all the fuss about? To me, he seems like an average centre back, local boy (and related to the owner), playing in a shit team. No thanks

At least Swansea or Hull will go down having actually had a go. Can't say that of Boro. I feel for them, in a lot of ways Boro remind me of us - the whole rivalry dynamic with Toon and Mackems, the run of glory years in the Premiership before being banished to the Championship - a biggish club that people had forgotten about, and we could have easily gone down in our first season after finally making it back to the PL. Obviously our recent history has made all that irrelevant now, but I hope to see Middlesbrough back in the PL sooner rather than later.

No thanks Young, solid, English, plenty of potential- maybe not for the fees being quoted, but I can see it. I think he'd fit in here, obviously works well in a team who defend deep in numbers. Ramirez, though... I just can't see him being a success here.

There is nothing to suggest that Ramirez is anywhere near that level. He's another Musa/Mendy type signing for me, big money and probably not good enough to improve the first team and will be a bench player.
sk3since03 Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 Strange this season for Boro. I though they'd do well with their sqaud Feel for the Boro fans
