He's just been really, really unlucky. And as Claudio mentioned, he's understandably pretty down about it. Must be an awful feeling getting close to fitness and then relapsing when your whole career relies on it. Even more so when he's still not really properly started his 'new job' with us. Get well soon Papy! Exactly, get well soon. people on here going on like it's his fault that he's injured. We were lucky with injury last season. This season might balance it out. We might not win back to back leagues after all!

Also that the player is 'very down'. Let's hope we aren't come may ! Ah cheers, I was googling around but couldn't find anything other than old news on Mendy. In a season of lessons for the club, this has to be chalked up as another one we must learn from if we want to establish ourselves as a top 6 team.

He's got a legitimate, fairly serious injury, he's probably a lot more down about than any of us are, give him a break.

And people questioning our sports science team, have a word. We're coming across as extremely spoilt as a fanbase at the moment.

I feel bad for him and surprised our medical team haven't sorted him out yet. Maybe we are rushing him a bit more because our options in the middle of the park are awful. Should have just paid Silva's money. If Drinkwater gets injured and we line up with a King/Amartey partnership then we really are ****ed. That £30m would have been a good deal for us, in hindsight. We won't be the draw we were last summer in January either, really didn't make the most of our only opportunity ever to be up there as a major name in the transfer market. I suppose we should (barring a disaster) have knockout CL football, but that will be seen as a short-term thing by potential signings.
FireFox Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 Disappointing for all that he hasn't been fit, but as long as he is fit before AFCON, we'll cope.
themightyfin Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 What a load of tossers we sound here ,a bloke has an injury and the club and he gets slagged for it. Im sure he's just as frustrated as everyone and some of the comments here are clearly not off true fans just glory hunters moaning about everything they can. You know who you are...we don't need you here ...clearly children who know nothing about football and what it means to be a true Leicester City fan. keep the faith.
Merging Cultures Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 I feel sorry for the lad. The upside is that when he is ready he is going Fri have a lot to prove and will hopefully work his bottom off!
Wymsey Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 I currently question in recruiting new players (worth a few million) such as Mendy and Kaputska (and even Amartey in recent weeks), who don't have much opportunities. Though on the flip-side I trust that they're improving themselves in training to want to be considered.
TJB-fox Posted 17 November 2016 Posted 17 November 2016 Not that his injuries are his fault or ours either, but this recurrence of injuries for Mendy is really confirming the fact our summer transfer dealings were ****ing awful
Chico1958 Posted 18 November 2016 Posted 18 November 2016 The kids got an injury, reading his interviews before he signed he was really up for working with Claudio I don't see us lambasting Matty James, the thing we need to understand, this is his livelyhood. It's not Sunday morning over the park with your mates then off to the pub. It's what he does for a living and he's got 6 or 7 years left before he's on the scrapheap. Get Well Soon Buddy, we need you

Easy lesson to learn and we should have already been awear of. Steer clear of players that are not injured and have no history injury or any player that could get an injury.

Haha, my point was more that we shouldn't be so crap in the transfer market and actually sign players that aren't wingers or strikers.

He may well be the answer but how anyone could judge that so far? We've seen nothing of him to have an opinion one way or the other. Hope he is as good as Don Claudio thought he was at Monaco and is the answer. But needs to play 1st
weller54 Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 Have a horrible feeling he's going to miss the entire season!
desertfox2 Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Nemphalys Brokeny at the moment. Doesn't look good the way his recovery is dragging has a Matty James feel to it.
funkyrobot Posted 22 January 2017 Posted 22 January 2017 Still not seen a spark of anything from Mendy. I know it's only been a few games but he hasn't really yet done one thing, a pass, a trick. Hasn't looked like a great tackler or interceptor. Rather than being a Kante replacement like CR has said he was in the past (most recently when asked about Ndidi) he looks more like another Andy King.
Buzzell Posted 22 January 2017 Posted 22 January 2017 Still hasn't found his feet yet but not surprised as he's been out for so long. We need to find the right system for him along with Ndidi, Amartey and Drinkwater.

He was nothing spectacular at his old club, he sat in front of the back four and ticked things over. I'm not sure we've played him once in the formation and role he got recognised for. It's absolutely pointless in picking out individual performances. Not a single player is walking away with any credit this season and that's unbelieveable, even players we know that can perform. So the problems are much bigger and deeper than one new signing not pulling up trees, that's a symptom of a deep lying problem. If we continue to swap players in and out and apportioning blame to new signings we'all end up fecked. We need to find and recognise the cause and sort it out so that we can get the best out of each player. Currently we're not getting the best out of anyone and that's on the managers shoulders.
dedlock Posted 22 January 2017 Posted 22 January 2017 Give the guy a chance. Had he played half a season rater than been injured it would be fair to criticiise. We do need to find the system that will accomodate DD Ndidi & Papy. Ranieri, when he signed, saw Mendy as an additional midfielder rather than a replacement for N'G. Time to get the system right and stick with it Claudio.
