What's the latest on his expected return date?

From what I read a while ago, he should be fit around now, but getting his fitness to where it should be is going to take some time, I should imagine.

I personally can't see him starting before Christmas, but I hope it's sooner, our fitness people have been known to work miracles.

What an absolute joke this has become.

We are a Drinkwater injury away from a relegation battle.

Just highlights how bad our transfer activity was. Painfully obvious that we needed another CM from the start, and we wait until 3 days before the window closed before making any moves. Paying the price.

Let's just pray that Drinkwater is okay for the weekend.

Maybe our physio team isn't all its cracked up to be?

Jeff out for ages last season. James still not fighting fit. And now Mendy.

He had basically the same injury as Harry Kane didn't he, and he's already back.

I propose a minutes booing in the 24th minute on Saturday and in every subsequent game until he either returns or has to retire.

Great idea I'm sure it will help moral within the club. Why don't we boo every time a city player touches the ball.

We could also cheer every time kasper let's one in .

this is seriously bad luck. In his three seasons with Nice he played 110 times, which suggests he is not a sicknote. It's as if all those little things that went for us last season are against us this time. Very very frustrating, but lets not give up on him, although I fear it's now the new year at best for him. Likewise Matty J is, it would seem, nowhere near, despite playing for the under 23s a few times.

We really could do with securing a class midfielder at the very beginning of January. Easier said than done

What a waste of money, he's approaching worst ever signing territory here. Did they not notice the biscuits when they did the medical?

He had never been this badly injured before though, injury-free for quite a few seasons. I feel bad for him and surprised our medical team haven't sorted him out yet. Maybe we are rushing him a bit more because our options in the middle of the park are awful.

Should have just paid Silva's money. If Drinkwater gets injured and we line up with a King/Amartey partnership then we really are ****ed.

What was it last time, a fracture that he had surgery on and he wasn't expected back for 5 weeks, which would be in the next week or so.

Any information on it or has Ranieri just said he's out a bit longer than expected?

He said 'another setback and he will see the surgeon who operated '. Also that the player is 'very down'.  Let's hope we aren't come may !

We'll ignore our great injury record since they've all been here and just focus on a couple.

No two injuries are going to be the same or the recoveries.

Poor bloke. As others have said, he hardly had a bad injury record before he got here. He's just been really, really unlucky.

And as Claudio mentioned, he's understandably pretty down about it. Must be an awful feeling getting close to fitness and then relapsing when your whole career relies on it. Even more so when he's still not really properly started his 'new job' with us.

Get well soon Papy!

To think some of you think he's the missing link is daft,he shown nothing in the couple of games he played,

im not saying he won't be a good player but we've all seen him play and if your think that we'll improve based on previous performance then I wouldn't be to optimistic that he's all he's cracked up to be
