Least impressive Leicester debuts

Mark Grew v Notts County first game of the 83-84 season. Let in 4 goals in a 0-4 loss.

Went on to play another 4 games for City letting in another 10 goals before disappearing without trace.

Didn't  he let 3 in against Luton the next  game as well ?

Ben Mee certainly. Seem to remember him giving away a pen pretty early on. Can anyone remember opposition and exactly what happened because my memory seems to be evading me right now.

Has to be Zeljko Kalac chucking them in his own net v West Brom and snatching a draw (I think) from the jaws of victory.

Also, any of Peter Taylor's new signings in the 5-0 home loss to Bolton on the first day of the season.

I was there. Any shot from outside the area, however, tame just flew in. Ex-Leicester man, Trevor Christie, I think scored a hat-trick. A few weeks later Wallington came back and order was restored

Yuki Abe was horrendous on his debut. He only came on for about the last ten minutes at home to Cardiff. We we winning 2-1 and he ran around looking like he'd never played football before and almost gifted them the equaliser. Obviously not the worst ever but it's one that always sticks in the mind.

Paul Brown, a youngster from the reserves, made his debut against Notts County and was absolutely roasted all day long by Iain McCulloch.

I think that was his only appearance for the club

Kalac.

Didn't get much better.

My first game! Such an impressive display of how not to command an area if you're 6'7"!

He gave away two penalties!!! Then he started the next game and went on to be one of our best players that season.

Surely Dennis Wise? We lost 5 0 at home to Bolton and pretty sure that was his first game for us. Worst game I'd seen at Filbert St and just watched Peter Taylor do nothing at all on the touchline.

I remember that all too well, it was first game of the season and we were at home to Bolton who had just got promoted via the play offs so in theory that should have been the easiest game of the season. We had ended the previous season terribly and any hopes that we weren't in for a long old season were extinguished that day.

My one memory of that game was us being 0-4 down with about 10 mins to go and Peter Taylor was stood on the touchline trying to front it out when everyone knew he was out of his depth. The ball went for a throw in near him and he quickly grabbed the ball and threw it to a Leicester player like we still had a chance in the game, I remember thinking "what a c*nt", you're ruining my club".

The inevitable happened and he got sacked a couple of months later because we we were dire and relegation followed at the end of the season. I then read an article saying he would have kept us up if we hadn't sacked him, even he wasn't that stupid to believe that, the worst manager we've ever had.

Much love for Yuki, but you're right. I think that's what makes him so likeable though, cos he really stepped up too the plate and adapted to the English game.

If the club had had any backbone and or foresight they would've sacked him at the end of the previous season. It was so painfully obvious he was out of his depth.

Matt Mills, was Readings player of the season when we payed out our record transfer

of £5.5 million for him.

I thought he had a shocker, and didn't get much better!

if jesse lingard's debut was the home game vs forest then him by an absolute mile. came on in a shirt 12 sizes too big for him, looked completely confused by the game of football, kinda like a mascot had accidentally stayed on the pitch too long. awful. still shit now.

Didn't he do an absolutely terrible foul throw as well?

Might be my imagination but I'm sure people were not that impressed by Fuchs against Sunderland last season, he was a sub but I seem to remember a real underwhelming response.

For certain, Dion Dublin after all the "local lad coming home" hype and Daniel Amartey's v Norwich (albeit at right back) was extremely nervous.
