Club statement on Claudio's future

Recommended Posts

This is a brilliant ploy from owners and CR. Deflect all attention from the players so they can focus on the games ahead...

He says in hope...

All it really tells me is that the Chairman are a bit clueless on the goings on and do not really understand the importance of staying up. It's a dull, unambitious statement basically saying 'We will try to stay up, but if not, nevermind'. Excellent news.

One of the most embarrassing & disrespectful posts I've read on this forum. Congrats

These owners are not cynical football people

they will not sack Claudio this season

if we go down we go down

Remember what happened last time we went down? We may not be back for a while, and who is to say the owners would stick by us

Some people can't separate the two. They don't have the ability to think laterally.

That's not lateral thinking.

Not read all the posts but for me if the owners are backing him then i will back him even if i think a change could/might be good.

Love claudio and what he has done so keeping my support there is not an issue.

Im sure we will be frustrated still but we cant be successful if we dont stick together. Its all or none.

That was a private conversation (which maybe they weren't too happy about it being publicised)

this is a club statement

quite different

the only way Claudio doesn't see out the season is resignation

Or a flying pig landing on his head.

Well I hope things pick up well and this is an inspired statement and backing.

But if not I want, I need to see change, things need to pick up, things cannot carry on this way.

I want him to turn things round but can't see it and feel this is only going to end one way.

Onwards.

Although I would prefer Ranieri to leave I feel we all need to support the club as much as we all can.

The owners have back Ranieri so lets be postive and work our way out of this mess.

Come on LCFC

i keep an eye on roma too

the first season he came in, they were leaking goals and overall looking disjointed. he fixed them and took them to a whisker of the title - lots of 1nils and 2-1s (but they werent boring to watch)

the whole he cant handle big egos or lets players get off scott free - whillst losing 1nil in the derby he took off both totti and de rossi to good effect

the second season things started to unravel however the context has to be looked at, there wasnt much money to spend, players who were bought by the club (not ranieri) were to the detriment of the current playing style affecting totti vucinic menez. he also had an aging squad to deal with

I think you've summed that up spot on. When you have the balls to take Roma's God's Totti and de Rossi off against your local rivals and suffer the consequences if it goes wrong, it somewhat flies in the face of the Mr Niceguy wimp that some of our supporters think he is. Some of his substitutions last year, some of which were at half time were quite incisive. Some of his tactical decisions this year have blown up in his face. Mostly I can see what he's tried to do but they can only work if you have the right personnel to carry your wishes out with the required amount of effort which has been lacking in some of our players sadly.

The analogy of Roma chosing the players and their subsequent breakdown and our clubs purchases make for an interesting analogy.

A manager has to take the brunt of the blame but sometimes circumstances conspire against them.

We are more than capable of stringing together a few wins and moving away from the relegation zone.

We might just get to Wembley in the Fa Cup and stay up comfortably. We might even progress to the quarters in the champions league.

It's bad at the moment but there's nothing wrong with some positive thinking.

One big performance and I think confidence will build like a snowball within the players.

The game plan originally was 442 like last year with the exception of one important player who we did, lest we forget, manage to win the odd game without last year, but is a huge loss. It wasn't working and Ranieri, on more than one occasion on here was castigated for not trying different formations. Our midfield wasn't working out. It was neither protecting the back four or creating chances for our forwards. Opposition tactics ie defending deeper also occurred. Vardy to some extent nullified and Drinkwaters form and passing off though still working hard, and having to cover for either an inexperienced kid in Armatey (who gives of his best) or King, not good enough. Vardy work rate has dropped.  Marhez not tracking back, looking disinterested, if he seemingly can't dribble past three opposition players,  by definition that means there are gaps for other of his players if he bothered to get his head out of his arse. Either way his attitude stinks. Mendy sadly injured before he could even try and get used to the Premiership.

Vardy and Slimani seemingly can't seem to play off each other. Ranieri as per the cries, tries various players and formations then gets slaughtered by those same people calling for him to do it in the first place. His squad replacements are either young,  inexperienced in the UK, or otherwise not up to the task. Meanwhile confidence drops, Vardy and Marhez still don't up there effort and we continue to lose.

There were game plans and even experimental formations which when they failed, Ranieri  took the blame for. He also in interviews sides with and doesn't criticise his players (ala Fergie, who knows what goes on behind the scenes ). Come Saturday,  I think all our players should be fit and available so we'll see. I'd certainly start with Vardy and Marhez on the bench against Derby with Musa given a go in Vardys role. Chilwell and Benny also to start with Huth or Morgan sidelined. If he's back I'd go 433 with Amartey,  Mendy and Ndidi in the middle and bench Drinkwaters also.

Derby is important in that a win will breed confidence for the weekend.

I don't think that's fair, he's been slaughtered not for trying a new formation, but for trying about 4 different ones over a 5 game period. He's not given any of them a chance to actually work. The chopping and changing and then going back to 442 signifies he has no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. If you think 433 will fix the issues you stick with it and give the players time to get used to it.

Look at our switch to 3 at the back during the great escape. There were some crap performances and losses to start with. But we stuck with it as we thought that would cure the issue and it did finally. That's what people want, someone with a clear plan to try and alter things for the better. At least have the conviction in your own beliefs if you think it will solve the issue.

The actual game plan, how we press, how players attack and defend has remained absolutely unchanged from what I can see. Almost no attempt to tweak our style. That could mean a 442 with attacking full backs, players switching wings, attackers being told to take up different positions etc.

No - he would resign. He wouldn't force vichai to fire him.

(A deal would be done behind the scenes re his compensation as technically resigning would mean he is entitled to nowt)

So he'd basically be sacked then ;)
