I thought it was a pretty harmless encounter with N'Zonzi. Simpson basically tripped over his own leg whilst on a move forward, I couldn't make out too much contact in the replay.

Clash of knees.

Having experienced the thrills of the game first hand at the KP last night, I watched the whole 90 minutes again on TV today and that really was some performance. The organisation of the team was magnificent - take a bow, Craig - and every single player both knew his job and gave his all.

The one thing I didn't really notice live (sitting at the Kop end) was just how many vital headed clearances Ndidi made from around the edge of the area in the second half. His protection for the defence was (and will be) so important.

Onwards and upwards.

Fuchs was immense, the best left back in the world last night.

I'm convinced Ranieri must have been eating his packed lunch for him to be so bad before.

Of all the transformations in the post Ranieri era Fuchs's is the widest.

Definitely. Back to his best, has been linking up well with Albrighton and Vardy and just seems to have more energy to defend.

Pretty sure Fuchs never posted a "thank you" to Ranieri. Maybe Fuchs and Ranieri did have a falling out with the whole champagne thing and Chilwell being put on at HT and such?

It's starting to sink in how good we were last night. We weren't just plucky, or brave, or flukey. Some of the quality we showed - and I'm not talking about one touch moves or 30-yard screamers, but stopping crosses, breaking with pace, winning the ball high up, intercepting, forcing mistakes, winning headers - we went toe-to-toe with a quality European outfit and deserved our win. How insane is that?

Ndidi seemed to lose the ball a few times too easily in the middle of the park...but like you mention his defending was massive  last night.

He still blows hot n cold but his potential and talent is there. Its going to be enjoyable watching his progress..

I want also to shout out loud about Simpson, hes turned into a great fb, massive across the whole backline. He does it that well,

I couldnt care a cuss, he only makes the odd dynamic surge forward. He earns his money for representing the defenders lobby.

IMO one of the top 5 fbs in the PL, again imo better around the box than Fuchs, Fuchs is probably better around the pitch and

Covers more channels...No way at present would I chose to chase a replacement, cover yes...

Our team has unique assets and ethos, when coached correctly. We nearly cut off our noses to spite our style, thankfully it

Seems just to have been a heavy nose bleed. Thank god Shakey stayed around, I dont believe a new manager would of

Got this group ticking again...its so simple, so defying, so petulant, so exhausting, it works so uniquelly for us.

Sevilla, Athletico, have found their own spirit within themselves, they both have had a couple more years of success

behind them. Our bbone is older in the legs, but this rebirth, I believe is showing us the Foxes era of suprise can be

built On, Rjuvenation with little tweeks  can be sometimes better than too many blind buys.

If we have another remarkable eos, and finish on top of our game, then why change it so dramatically.

Slimani, Musa, Gray, Amartey, Chilwell, Zieler, Mendy, Kapu need to be shown more belief, from within this forum.

Yes I still want to see quality cover along the Backline, this summer. Plus a young strong striker.

But for the desired success, and a foxes era just might be short and sweet, with just these 1st 14 players in Shakespeares

Minds-eye....This game made me believe this group still has alot to give and ready to suprise us.

Fearless is back in the pot..Like last season 1-2 injuries will not now break us.

Dogs of war are not only barking, we have found out we still have the bite.

Simpson's ability to snuff out back post danger is so impressive. Saved us countless times. So defensively sound.

Actually re-watched the game last night, looking back at it the players who were most impressive were N'didi and Fuchs. I've never seen a better all-round team performance from us, so it's hard to really single anyone out... but those 2 were just sublime. N'didi's performance was up there with some of Kante's best performances for us imo, different styles but both very effective

Is it just me thinks Shinji had a really good game then?

Spose I'll get the obligatory "yes" response.

It was a workman-like Shinji shift. I think he had a good game, wouldn't say it was "really good"

Hes never had a great game..Even a really good game.  Its the nature of the beast !!!

His value and performances for us though are unique and invaluable, our set up gives him that niche.

With Albrighton on the money, and midfield on the frontfoot, he closes down those spaces, or stops

the opposition getting into flow.He chases 2nd 3rd balls, even if he then eventually loses it He gives us time....

Hes a bit hectic when moving forward, but is often there and  fighting to make the assist for the assist...

Thats how I see him.

Worth it just to hear the atmosphere again. It was the first thing I watched when I got home tonight!

Like most UCL games, I've downloaded a copy of the match with no commentary for my archive. It is glorious. The crowd is incredible, especially the goals. A game to be treasured for years!

Oh wow how did you get that?

There are some great clips from fans on YouTube, especially during the Tifo / just post Champions League music. Really puts a massive smile on your face!

Also I think it was awesome when Kasabian's Club Foot was playing at about 19:40 with everyone waving their flag! The "HOOH" part of the song is quite intimidating when the crowd do it together and I could see the looks on or two Sevilla fans who were thinking "what's going on here!?"

We've certainly stepped up our game compared to the Justin Timberlake played before the Porto game ?.

Some nice little bits here

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4316664/How-Leicester-City-transformed.html

Tactical switch

As Ranieri grappled to turn round a sinking ship he increasingly gave primary importance to studying opponents and adapting Leicester's game plan to suit. Players would try to process exhaustive information on iPads but the shift in balance tended to compromise the team's natural instincts and confidence.

Shakespeare has reverted preparations to focusing on what Leicester do well and by course rebuilding belief. He 'let slip the dogs of war' by asking for the high press that characterised the team's Premier League title charge.

'We made it about us, and didn't worry too much about them,' Marc Albrighton explained. 'Obviously they are a fantastic side and we had to be wary but ultimately we knew that if we turned up and played our game we would get the result.'

Fully-firing Vardy

Jamie Vardy was pivotal to the win, setting the tone by ripping around up front. Clearances were blocked, lost balls made into successful passes, free-kicks won.

His role in Samir Nasri's sending off may have caused some distaste but there is no dispute he helped his team, getting under the skin of a more experienced European player who really should have known better.

It was a world-class display that would have been capped by a deserved goal had he not skied his finish when put through late on by Mahrez. He literally beat himself up in response but will not dwell, aided by mickey-taking mates.

Returning to his box after full-time he was met by his closest friends, nicknamed The Inbetweeners, and it was quickly suggested to him the ball had struck the owners' helicopter flying in the skies above.

Togetherness

Leicester showed ultimate team spirit to defeat a technically superior Sevilla side and that unity was evidenced in the bowels of the King Power after progress was confirmed.

An extended mixed zone – the area players pass through to give post-match thoughts – meant the corridor between dressing room and families' lounge was blocked by dozens of bodies, so Riyad Mahrez's customary embrace with his infant daughter was tricky.

Step forward Islam Slimani. The Algeria striker picked up the little girl from Mahrez's wife, and carried her through the throng into the arms of her father.

Schmeichel's saves

Kasper Schmeichel is among Europe's elite goalkeepers right now, a beacon at the back spreading conviction to those in front. His save to Steven N'Zonzi's penalty was a second in as many Champions League games; a case of London buses given his last had come against Barnsley in the Championship in April 2013.

Leicester did practice penalties in case of a shoot-out yet Schmeichel failed to stop any despite frequently guessing right. He produced when it mattered.

Incredibly, he has saved 90 per cent of shots faced in this season's Champions League, a higher ratio than any other goalkeeper, and he has kept five clean sheets, the joint-most with Gianluigi Buffon, despite missing two group matches.

The smile on his father Peter's face, seen in the stands, was still spread wide well after the final whistle as he went looking to congratulate his son.

Feet up and friends made

Leicester's four-day trip to Dubai was as much about rest and relaxation as anything else. It was a rare opportunity for players and staff to gather away from the fish bowl of football and get chatting about other things.

Some of the new signings from last summer had not had chance to bond properly with the established squad members due to the increased schedule. In the Middle East there were group meals and even a trip to the safari.

'Sometimes it's training, team meetings and football, football, football,' said Danny Simpson. 'This was just spending time together.' They will have at least one more trip abroad to do that and more.
