davieG Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Italian giants Juventus have identified Ghana defender Daniel Amartey as a potential summer transfer. The centre-back cum defensive midfielder is seen as a replacement for Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini. According to reports, he is among six players penciled down when the window opens in June. Amartey is down the pecking order at Leicester City where his contract runs out in 2019. He would not hesitate to move to the Serie A if guaranteed game time. http://ghanasoccernet.com/juventus-considering-swoop-for-ghana-defender-daniel-amartey-reports Agent talk????
Xen Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Juve want to sign our backup players to replace their world-class defenders? Have I woken up yet or am I still in dreamland?!
lgfualol Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 No way he goes Juve. He'll stay with us another year surely. I'd like to see Col's reaction to the title Anyway, swap for Dybala? I'd take that.
fazzyfox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I presume they had someone at the AFCON who reported back that he was a good CB. I take it they haven't dug much deeper and watched some of the recordings from earlier this season where he was letting runners go and leaving people unmarked etc. Having said that, he's still young and apparently had a good tournament so could become something else to what we've generally seen but if he can be in the Juventus team but can't get in ours that is a bit of a head scratcher.

AKCJ Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Hopefully we can keep hold of him, clearly got massive potential.
Munshi Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Yeah he has so much more to offer here, we still haven't seen him in at centre back.
foxinsocks Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Hmm Hmmm... When Amarty started with us he made a few mistakes as he adjusted to the pace of the Pl within a team that was not winning. Yet... by afcon he was starting to strut around in midfield and put in some very solid performances. Since Afcon we have only seen him at right back as Ndidi has taken the chance. I do believe that both ndidi and amarty will develop in the very good midfiled players - I would not consign amarty to the be a back four player )nothing worng with it - but he has the potential to be asolid central midfield player and they is a very valuable thing). IT does not surprise me that bigger clubs see him as a reasonable bet. I hope we are "managing this talent" well!

I think he might be one of those players who we won't see the best of until he's about 25, a slow burner. I'm not sure he'll ever have the quality to be a CM but he might make a good right back, central defender or even defensive midfielder. He has certain qualities that would be good for a defending player in that he's athletic and quick and decent on the ball for a centre half but lacks strength and aggression at his young age. He needs to make a position his own though and learn the role rather than being a jack of all trades, master of none. Maybe he'll end up being a very good centre half as he has good attributes but needs time to grow into that role.
Finnegan Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 I like Amartey, think he's going to be cracking, but replacement for Bonucci and Chiellini?
foxy boxing Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Still young and developing and is versatile, can either play around the defence or midfield. certainly not the finished article yet but has plenty of potential. Juventus are a big club so i'm sure he'll be tempted especially with guarenteed Champions league football but hopefully he will stay!. yes he has made plenty of mistakes but will only learn from them
Thracian Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Not mobile enough for me, not sufficiently imposing and definitely not at ease with little terriers running all around him demanding he cope with their off-the-ball running. Yes, he'll likely keep improving and may one day find a specialist position where he might do that more quickly but, for now, he's no better than any number of aspiring youngsters. If he really thinks he'd be better off - and get more playing time - at Juventus, or his agent thinks he can get him a contract there then good luck to the lad. Take a profit I'd say because I'd presume that's what we bought him for. I don't see a Patrick Vieira in the making, but hope springs eternal.
sk3since03 Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Unless it's a huge cash offer i doubt we'd be willing to sell

Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Need to keep him. He will be our lead CB next season. Can understand of he is tad frustrated.
sylofox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Not sure why people are still judging our summer buys on what they have done so far. Judging them from playing in a shite performing side is a little unfair. Look how shite Wes Drinky Mahrez and Vardy have been. Then the last 3 games and kings again. Players like Amartey and Musa should be given a fresh start not judged as being part of a shite performing side.
stix Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Any article that spells 'come' like a porno rag would, doesn't hold any credence with me.
MC Prussian Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Ghanaian newspapers and online newspages... Unless it's coming from a credible source, I'm not having it. Amartey's a bit of an enigma for me. Unlikely to get past Ndidi in midfield and he's not played an awful lot as centre-back or right-back for us yet.
Koke Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 His attributes makes for a decent CB 6'1 Quick Good in the air Decent on the ball He just needs to improve on his positional sense and decision making. He's 21 so that will come with age.
