AmarteyAndChill Posted 29 May 2017 Posted 29 May 2017 For the record, Wagner is a much more adaptable manager then Klopp. As a result of this he will have more success in his career.

Rather him than the dourness of a wooden Pearson or the moaning spoilt child tirades of a Mourinho or the joking idiocy and embarrassment of of an Ian Holloway - I actually think he's a bit of a character and a balance between the two! Id be quite happy if he was appointed at LCFC!

Klopp plays a high press so when teams defend deep and go long avoiding the press their pressing style is useless.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 29 May 2017 Posted 29 May 2017 tbf if Klopp was in charge of that Huddersfield team, he'd have played right into Stam's hands
Nickfosse Posted 29 May 2017 Posted 29 May 2017 8 minutes ago, GaelicFox said: Klopp has no silverware in England wagner does klopp is nothing special ? it's always seemed anomalous to me that there is a trophy for winning the play-offs. There's the potential for the team finishing sixth to win a trophy but not the team finishing 4 places above! It's even weirder where Huddersfield are concerned because they haven't one a single game post-season and two of them have gone to 120 minutes.

The tactic that saw us not get hammered by anyone, but also saw us bottom of the league for three quarters of the season! The negative way in which we played at Arsenal, at a time when they were actually going through a dodgy patch, was very disappointing, and flagged up a few warning signs for me. I like Shakespeare, he seems a decent and honest bloke, and hopefully it works out, and we are a success under him, but i would be lying if i said i wasn`t concerned about his appointment. We won only 2 of our last 10 games, that is a worry for me. He was also probably a little fortunate to take over at a time when we had five of the next six games at home too, not to mention that all the stick the players had been getting in the media at that time was always going to fire them up. The players didn`t need motivating by Shakespeare at that point, the media had done it for him. On Talk Sport on Saturday, it got a brief mention, and it was suggested that Shakespeare would probably get the job, but would also likely be the first premier manager to be sacked next season, something i have a horrible feeling is going to be the case. Hopefully though, i am wrong, and he becomes an all time great manager for us, and no one will be happier than me if that is the case. We were also playing "stay in the game" football when we won the title. I don't see what Pearson has to do with it. It's been our style for a long time.
Tuna Posted 29 May 2017 Posted 29 May 2017 Shakespeare's the man for the job. Sounds like he has it in the bag, lets hope he's supported with quality additions and we can really go places next season.
Gazza M Posted 29 May 2017 Posted 29 May 2017 If it gets announced this week, we must get behind him and let's hope for a much better pre-season. Want to see some signings that will add to the squad, not make up the squad. Also want to see the players in pre season doing more fitness training and playing more matches, than sight seeing and picking up awards. It was pathetic last August when Claudio was saying we are about 80% after the Hull match. I was at the ground and bloody humiliating as defending champions of the league title.

It's been our style for a long time. In the great escape season under Pearson, we were certainly not playing the quick counter attack football, that won us so many games last season, we were just trying to survive in games, we rarely looked a threat in games until it was shit or bust time, and he changed the system and had to try and win games. Much like the game at Arsenal and at Man City until we were 2-0 down this season. What Pearson has to do with it, is that much of Shakespeares time as an assistant manager, has been under the guidance of Pearson, and my concern is that he was starting to turn to the same negative tactics that he had been a part of, while working with Pearson, that had seen us rock bottom of the league for three quarters of a season.

hejammy Posted 30 May 2017 Posted 30 May 2017 Just throwing it out there.... Wengers future probably being decided today or tomorrow. Any chance our owners have had words with him before hand? I think Wenger did mention in a press conference that he knows what he will so around the time Shakey took over as temp manager. Probably way off but what would people think of Wenger?

I expect he will be keen to make the KP his curtain call in management ...............
