I'm not doubting the unpronounceable name Polish player's ability but surely the tried and tested is better. I think you could class one of our "star" players in the last 5/6 years as being tried and tested. There is no such thing anymore.
EnderbyFox Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Don't think I could stomach seeing both Drinkwater & Kante at Chelsea

Ox has been in this league for like 5 years and I'm still unsure what his best position is and if he's any good. Drinkwater has won the league and reached the CL quarters (something Ox never has). That doesn't really have much of a bearing on valuations.

I just think the club factored in outgoings, and we are yet to see that offset the money spent. i don't personally think us being 5th biggest spenders is a statement of intent.

Bench at best. His choice if it proves to be true. Though admittedly Kante made him better than he is so Conte or whoever could be tempted.
dannythefox Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Personally I think drinky will go but Bert just said he's not going unless it's 40M

That is guess work, I'm dealing in what we know and so far we have spent that cash. Who said anything about statement of intent? Fact is we've spent good money for a club our size over the last two windows. On top of all the increased contracts, the money from Europe has mostly been spent. If it hasn't you have to factor in other things like ground expansion possibility, expensive contracts need paying for over 4/5 years, plus the fact we might want to keep a bit in reserve to cover the unknown.

st albans fox Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Didn't giroud comment on vardys arrival at Arsenal last summer?
ARM1968 Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Giroud? What did he take 5 mins off admiring himself in a mirror?

esoog Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 I still don't think it's happening. Only true doubt would be that he wasn't on subs bench. Why he wasn't, never got asked by media etc

Bryn Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Kinda getting used to this idea that we sell our best players. We just need to make sure we replace strongly, like Southampton do.
ozvaldo Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 I don't remember what we paid for him, but for £40m or close to, he has to go. He was fantastic for us in the Championship and in THAT season, but we may not get an offer like that again for him. Probably didn't have his best season last time round and has looked a bit leggy over pre-season (maybe he just wants out). If he does go, I hope we've got cover / a suitable incoming. This week will be interesting.
foxinsocks Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 why are we bending over just coz chelski come knocking.... our owner have missed the chance to send out a clear message... instead this just invites bids for our best.... sad day if danny is allowed to leave. He set his ambitions aside when he signed up for the dosh. where is the leadership in allowing this?
