Make no mistake, someone will come in for him but whether it's a serious bid or not is open to debate. I think 2-3 PL clubs will panic tomorrow or Thursday and come in with £45-50 million bids. The harrowing thing is Townsend appears to be the replacement lined up rather than someone like Thorgan Hazard. Still hope he somehow stays but it's not going to be an easy last few days, a lot of big clubs are starting to panic.

I think he'll go to Arsenal on a £48 million pound last day Wenger panic buy and I think it'll harm / hamper his career in all honesty. He's too lightweight for Arsenal - the Ox owned him when we played them the other week and he barely gets in that side week in week out in recent seasons. Arsenal fans will not put up with his work ethic and head down lack of awareness when he gets frustrated, followed by appealing for a foul every time he loses the ball. Still, he'll get a 5 year deal on 130K a week and within a year he'll be a sulking mess.

 

The new Premiership seems to be full of strong fast young players a la Liverpool and Man Utd - If Mahrez wants his career to continue to blossom he should go abroad.

 

Oh and on an aside I can see both Spurs and Arsenal this season being outside the top four!

If he wants to definitely ruin his career, he can go to Arsenal.

 

Right now that would be the worst possible choice. Team of spineless divas which is not far from imploding and Wenger has lost the plot.

We are becoming to Chelsea what Soton are to Liverpool. The big differences are they sell for top dollar and have a competent recruitment/scouting set up  to replace the outbound talent ( not to mention a very good academy set-up)

Doubt Mahrez will go to Chelsea unless the Ox goes to Liverpool which he'd be mad to do with the likes of Salah and Mane knocking about - his job will be to fart on the bench to warm it for them until the 88th minute.

There are seriously people on the Chelsea forums that think he'd be handy as a wing back :facepalm:

 

They also seem to think he'd be happy to go there and sit on the bench :facepalm:

I would agree but we've possibly agreed with Mahrez that we will sell him for £50m.

 

If we did sell Mahrez for £50m and bought Townsend for £28m a few hours later that's awful business.

Given we might have wobbled and sold him to Roma for £36 million, at least we'll get decent money from Chelsea.
