I believe that Riyad and DD will still be LCFC players after deadline day as no one is near to their valuations - I for one hope the players are encouraging both to stay and think we as fans can do our bit as we do not want to lose either - certainly not accepting them moving on to other Prem clubs because it would be good career moves!!!!!
Finn Claw II Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 If Anrsneal manage to shift half the players they want to, I could see them bidding. That will go down to the wire though. mahrez being one of the big deadline day deals is my fear
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 I honestly think this is bound up in the Barcelona and Coutinho saga. If Liverpool end up selling, I could see them buying Riyad as a replacement.

With the added "bonus" that they will have plenty of cash if they sell Coutinho for £130M' burning a hole in their pockets.
FLAN Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 He doesn't exactly fit the Klopp pressing template does he
Collymore Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 It's frightening to think that Mahrez could go for the same price as what Slim and Musa were bought for combined. There's just no like for like replacements that will be available if he leaves. Investing the money in to 2 or 3 players is a risk as we seem to have this "chuck enough shit at the wall and hope some will stick" approach. The crazy thing about how good Mahrez is highlighted in my head when I think of Gray replacing him. I love Gray and I think he's potentially a future England regular and key player for us but he just will never be as good Mahrez, despite his potential. The only thing we can do is hope we can get some serious form going, get him enjoying his football again and hopefully we'll become the big club he wants to play for.

Mahrez provides the role of 2 players. He's our only creative spark and who dictates our inventive play but he also causes no end of havoc as a winger. If we lost him and brought in Gray then we still miss the creativity he provides which you'd then look for from your central midfield and we don't have any there either.

Yeah Gray can be creative from set plays so will pick up some assists but he lacks the through balls, deft passes and inventiveness that naturally comes to Mahrez. Mahrez also takes at least 2 players out of the game and we've seen the result of this with Shinji's goal on Sat. Without Mahrez you've got an extra defender in the box or midfielder battling with ours.

However, it was great to see him back to his best and although that might convince other clubs to put in a bid, it also means we are quite justified in holding out for £50m ... Win win ! .. He could always do a diego Cost and refuse to come back to the club... Or an Ulloa and refuse to play...

filbertway Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 If i'm Liverpool. I sell coutinho for mega money and get in for Draxler and Aubemeyang.

Master Fox Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 The club have no choice now but to reject all offers. He has to stay. We can't lose him.

LFC will go for a CM or CF with the Coutinho money I think. 55 minutes ago, F1_AN said: He doesn't exactly fit the Klopp pressing template does he I think Riyad can press but not relentlessly, which is what Klopp wants. Bazly Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 Wouldn't surprise me to see Makrez ask to remove his transfer request. His agent is clearly a chump and a desperate chump at that. So he should be looking for a new agent ahead of looking for a new club.

He was back in the fold after Ranieri left.
