stu Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Can't believe what I'm reading! If the officials do their jobs it's 1-0 and King takes his chance it's 1-1. Game plan executed perfectly and we go home happy. Fine margins. If this has been 2-0 loss in the 14/15 season on today's performance we'd be disappointed but happy we put up a fight of it. Think the title win has gone to some people's head. In the words of NP, delusions of grandeur spring to mind. Well done lads, you fought for the shirt. A few years ago the majority would have been proud of that.
deejdeej Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Not too disheartened tbh, expected the loss. Midfield was missing, good in defence for the most part and Maguire was superb. Could see from the offset how we were going to set up and it just doesn't work for us, I don't see the harm in going for it rather than wait for their attacks.
ealingfox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Another good effort but we are a few touches of quality short of competing for 90 mins in these games. Could have done with Iborra coming on again.

Fellaini wasn't offside because Morgan played the ball??? That's absolute rubbish. I understand it in cases where a ball is lobbed over a centre half to a centre forward who is in a potentially offside position, the centre half jumps and stretches and it skims backwards off his head through to the forward who scores and it's given. In Morgans case is trying to block it with any part of the body that he can and change the course of its direction much different? The rule about becoming active doesn't help, If Fellaini is no where near the box at that moment we don't defend with such urgency so he has influenced the outcome from an offside position. I'm not sure, your gut instinct is that it shouldn't stand though but if a deflected block attempt means onside then next match we need to keep Vardy 20 yards offside and get Mahrez to blast the ball at his full back all game. Two or three times the deflections will qualify as intentional attempts to play the ball and happy days we're in!
Guest the fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 @HankMarvin, give it a rest, hank! The pitchforks are out and you can't do anything about it, take it from a guy who experienced the same exact thing many times, when the team loses, the headhunters will come out! I liked gray today, he wasn't any close to being as bad as people are making out, I don't know what they were watching.

Our bench cost quite a lot and players that didn't even make the bench.
MPH Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Never like losing but I can't complain at the result. They look a solid unit. We looked a bit toothless but we don't have the players to match them man to man so we either had to defend to hope to stay in the game or risk them going rampant on us...

It would enforce a change in the rules after a couple of games.

How many other teams have had two substitutes coming on , in the space of three games, and scoring against us? Why didn't he just leave things as they were until around the 80th minute? We did really well in the second half - Lukaku didn't really look a threat, Pogba went awol, Mahrez was causing problems). Why bring King on? No it wasnt. Utd should have been home and dry well before then anyway. The first half was like the Alamo.
Sunbury Fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 I think people are being too negative. Agree that in the first half we were lucky to be level but in the second half I thought we started to look really dangerous on the counter and, to be honest, the more threatening side. As good as ManUre were in the first half, I felt they were running out of ideas in the second, unable to break through our block - and then we gifted them a goal off a corner. Their second goal was clearly offside which only rubbed salt in the wound. Thought we defended well - Maguire the best player again, but Kasper and Wes were also good - but we look short in midfield. If we lose DD and Riyad, who was good today again, next week we could be in huge trouble. By the way, I agree with others that Ndidi's form is a worry. Not been the same player in pre season or in the 3 league games so far.
Ted Maul Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Honestly, what planet are some people on? Complaining about his subs? He got it spot on, if anything he took too long to make those changes. We conceded at a point where we gained a foothold in the game, and it was just sloppy marking. Chill.
Swarles Barkley Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 We need a goddman attacking right back with pace. I love simmo but jesus he is useless at attacking. I feel so sorry for mahrez having to do it all on his own on that right side

Matt Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Gutted. We didn't deserve to win (we didn't attack!) but we deserved a draw I think! Defended fairly well, although the 2nd was poor to concede. Bit like the Arsenal game can't be too pissed off but it's frustrating (although we deserved to beat Arsenal) Believe it or not I was actually calling for Slimani to come on!! But why would you take Vardy off?!?! (Unless he had an injury I'm yet to read/learn of)

Pretty much the whole game was us making last ditch tackles and interceptions. The subs made little difference..they were going to break us down eventually. I called two nil at half time. Clear as day.
Guest the fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 United players tapping riyad But seriously, I can't imagine this guy playing for another PL team
Guest the fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Or it was probably them seeing "blind has a family, man!"
Loves2spooge Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Slim was on for the last 15 mins , I was saying he has to come in but Him for vardy was a weird choice I think bringing him for Vardy only means that Vards is injured from last time Hope after the international break we'll see him fit & ready

As i have said in (DG thread i think) i dunno what other subs would have made more of an impact? Nacho perhaps ? Maybe if Iborra/ drinky wernt injured we would have had more options?? Coulda woulda shoulda .. i dont think any sub would have changed the fact we were gonna finish the game giving away 3 points. Sadly it was a massive ask for us to have come away with anything better than a draw and that was never gonna happen with the pressure for the 90 mins .. Also called a 2-0 end result (which was alot better than the 4-0 results they have got from their previous games.)

Hardly...he got it wrong again bringing King on for Okazaki we were inviting United as if they weren't getting enough already. As soon as they score their inevitable goal we had little threat lined up as we were

First half was like the Alamo We restricted them Col, all they did was cross the ball and take long shots, they were unable to split us open which showed that our shape was good. It wasn't pretty from our perspective, but we looked much more organised than we did last season, when we went to Old Trafford. Today wasn't an embarrassment, we kept them at bay for the majority and we actually created a few chances.

Chico1958 Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 OK, I didn't see the first half due to work commitments. That team we played today has some exceptional quality in it and we got caught out from some lack of concentration. Before I went out I used the phrase "No Surrender" That was based on last years OT trip.......... In my humble oppinion they didn't. I have always had doubts about Shakespeares suitability to the job but for 70 minutes the Team defended well Wes, Harry did well most of the game as did Kasper and rest of the boys. Just as side note, if we had played like we did against Arsenal then they would have put 4 or 5 against us to our 1 And if we had gotten beaten by 4 or 5 god only knows what this thread would be like For me, two of the big boys away from home done and we are yet to show ourselves up. So it's Well Done Boys from me, ( Cos I was expecting it to be worse ) Ps: Now go get a CB, covering RB and replacements for DD and RM.......if you can
