Taking the lead would lift the entire place. It is crucial that we come straight out of the blocks. Unlucky in the league match in the sense had Kompany not brought down Vardy, we would have been 1-0 up.

But bloody hell they are good and every man and his dog knows they will score against us. It'll be hard anyway but striking first would just give us that hope

Not much of a midfield there

Yeah, it's a difficult one. I want to see Dan in midfield but I think Simmo's out because of a 5th yellow or am I imagining that?

Well to me, it feels like it needs a unique, bespoke tactic just for this game.

I’m not sure what exactly, but sense the key is packing the middle, so something crazy like a 3-3-3-1 so;

Maguire, Morgan, Fuchs

Amarety, Iborra, King

Albrighton, Okazaki, Mahrez

Vardy

Yeah I get what you mean, that's what I was going for with my line-up - Shinji to drop into midfield when defending, Albrighton and Fuchs creating the width and piling in crosses for Leo, with Nacho picking up the pieces. Simple

I was going for zero width. We would of course shuffle across when attacks went that way, but the idea would be play compact, hog the middle with 3 lines of 3.

Hope he goes full strength but he won't. If we want Europe, surely this is an easier route than finishing 6-7th.

Agree. No way on gods earth are we gonna finish 6th or 7th. Priorities after saturday's debacle now:  Man.City at home and Fleetwood away!

I think this comes down to what team Pep puts out. If they play their strongest 11 we have no chance, but he blooded a number of youngsters recently against Shaktar in the Champions League dead rubber match. If he plays the youngsters then we have a chance, although I expect heavy changes to our lineup too.

Who is getting sent off?

I get the thinking, and it would potentially keep Silva, De Bruyne etc. a bit more quiet down the middle, but I think we would then get murdered by their wingers without full backs/wing backs.

I'd go with something like this:

Maguire

Morgan

Dragovic

Albrighton

Amartey

Iborra

King

Chilwell

Okazaki

Vardy

Chilwell and Albrighton would need to play very deep for wingbacks though- I might even be tempted to play Fuchs there instead of Chilwell, but we will need some sort of attacking threat to have any chance.

Even a half-strength Man City side would comfortably beat most sides in the division.

Would love a cup run, but we'll rotate the squad too. Sorry folks, can't see anything but a good spanking here.

In the last Round Man City played:

                 Bravo

Danilo   Adarabioyo    Mangala   Zinchenko

        Gundogan      Toure

Sterling     B. Silva     Jesus

               Aguero

And only won on penalties vs Wolves. So when they make changes and aren't fully up for it they aren't super-human.

I assume they will pick something similar tomorrow.

I would try to match up against it something like:

            Kasper

Simpson Dragovic Morgan Fuchs

        Amartey  Iborra

Mahrez Okazaki Chilwell

             Vardy

No chance of us getting 7th but we have a chance of winning this cup?

Even if we beat Man City we'll probably be in the semi final draw alongside Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal. For us to win this we're probably going to have to beat four of the top six elite clubs. We're really no closer to winning this cup now than we were in August but 7th is easily obtainable for us. We only have to catch Burnley and we have a head start on the rest of the also rans.

We have a small chance, a split second sniff and we have to take it. Win this and there'll be genuine belief we can bring the league cup home to the nations hero once again.

Schmeichel

Amartey

Dragovic

Maguire

Fuchs

Iborra

King

Mahrez

Okazaki

Gray

Iheanacho

Subs: Vardy, Thomas, Albrighton, Hamer, Hughes, Choudhury, Chilwell

I'd go with this. The only question I have is; Ndidi- does he miss this match, I.e. When is his ban? If he's not banned for this, then may as well play him

Yes, he misses this game and is back against Man United.

My worry is what everyone has said 'when we get a split second chance we have to take it'

We've missed a LOT of chances this season, some of which have resulted in the team going up the other end and scoring (Man City)

So i'm struggling with confidence for this one lol

People need to remember that Man City scraped through the last round in a panalty shoot out after a 0-0 draw with Wolves.  Afterwards,  Pep said this about the ball (and Aguero)

"The ball was a different ball," added the Spaniard. "If we played with a different ball he would break the record. To score with that ball is a miracle. It is impossible.

"The ball is not acceptable to play with at this level. It is not a serious ball for a professional game. I can say that after we win. If we don't win and I say that it is an excuse."

Given that we are going into a game at home, that could last 120 minutes, and the opposition are guaranteed not to score because by their own admission it would be impossible, surely we have a decent chance?
