Spudulike Posted 17 April 2018 Posted 17 April 2018 Southampton did a number on us in this fixture last season (0-0). Set up perfectly to stop our counter-attacking when we were still very good at it. Van Dijk had Vardy in his pocket. Very impressive. Claude Puel was their manager.
Blanchflower78 Posted 17 April 2018 Posted 17 April 2018 This game either sends them down or gives them a platform and momentum to stay up. Should not finish 0-0 at least!
Lionheart10 Posted 17 April 2018 Posted 17 April 2018 Can't see anything other than a Southampton win,we've got nothing to play for and they are scrapping for survival.

gurru991 Posted 17 April 2018 Posted 17 April 2018 Puel will definitely want to win this one & I think we will see a good performance from City & a win for us

Johnson at right back too. Last chance for Southampton, regardless of the cup semi they will be all out for this and I can’t see us having the same motivation. I'd be up for this re darnell. Talk him into signing his contract with some promises of progression. If a stellar right back then becomes available and pushes him back down the pecking order after he's signed, tough. Harsh but in our best interests. Nothing personal. It's business. This would be a very good move business wise but would need the "If he loses this he might as well not turn up" brigade to wind their collective necks in. I want to see progression for the long term. This is not do or die, it's a dead rubber at the arse end of a reasonable season. 8th or 12th are both nowhere to me and not involved in relegation so if WE could take a longer term view it might be helpful.
AjcW Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 Has the potential to be the exact reverse of when we played them at the end of the survival season and destroyed them They had nothing and we had everything to play for. Hope i'm wrong though!
Bert Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 People talking about Johnson at right back, it's not gonna happen. If anything it's more likely to be Knight. But again that's unlikely too. Can see us sticking three past these. They're not good. Haven't been good all season. But because they've got something to play for they're gonna come and spank us? Nah.
Harry - LCFC Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 In the context of this season, pretty unimportant. But for Puel and next season this could be more influential than than you might think. A poor finish to the season could easily see him leave the club.
rachhere Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 Surely we can't go from slaughtering them at their place, to losing at ours...

I have doubts whether he could impact a game starting in that role though, especially at home. I agree that he is improving. Would like to see him given a run in that position to the end of the season now to find out once and for all. (Or at least go some way to finding out) I think so far this season we have pretty much seen what doesn't work. Or at least consistently.
Beechey Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 Amartey has been training, so there's a slim chance he might make the team.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 (edited) Draw I reckon, they're not very good and we're not arsed. Actually scrap that, can't see us scoring more than one the way we're taking our chances at the moment and they've scored twice in the last two games against decent opposition and our already poor defence will be even worse with Hamer. 1-3. Tuna Posted 18 April 2018 Posted 18 April 2018 It'll be the same as Bournemouth, Stoke...we'll play ponderous possession football, have no shot on target and 88% possession. They'll score and we'll get an 82nd minute equalizer from Vardy after we start to play on the 79th minute. Boos at the final whistle. Meltdown in the post match thread. 1
