I felt we'd finally cracked it under Pearson and that we were absolutely off our heads for getting rid of him, ripping it up and appointing a bloke whose career looked all but over.

Worked in Coventry at the time and remember talking to my Coventry supporting colleague. He thought we were mad appointing Ranieri as he was a "consistent failure" I pointed out that he'd been judged mainly on failing to win a league title because of the size of the clubs he'd managed but he has a fair few 2nd place finishes. I said if we finished 2nd then I'd be happy with that :D

I thought we'd surprise a few, especially those that had completely written Claudio off, didn't think we'd push for Europe though

I was optimistic after the way we ended the season, and genuinely thought Ranieri would do well (looking past his intl' appointments he'd actually had a good club career). Obviously didn't think we'd do QUITE that well, though. Thought we'd finish comfortably mid-table, and was optimistic of maybe 9th/10th?

Here's one that will (hopefully) lift the spirits. I know it's really difficult to do this objectively, but can you remember how you felt, going into the 2015-16 season? Did anyone genuinely believe we'd do anything other than struggle? Did you feel we might surprise a few, make a vague charge into the top 10 or challenge for Europe?

My only feeling was that we had at least learnt how to win during the Great Escape. I was working with a Man U ST holder the day of the Sunderland match, and we were both shocked at our being 3-0 up at half-time. He said to me (and I've reminded him countless times since) 'You know, that might prove to be the result that keep you up this season'.

I liked Ranieri from previous, but did not see anything like what occurred coming.

When we appointed Ranieri i thought he was Ok, it wasnt a 'WOW' moment (and you know i like to wow) but he seemed decent. Like yourself i hoped that the winning spirit from the previous season would at least continue for a few months and would be enough for us to not be in a relegation position at the end of the season.

I guess i was sort of correct in the fact we didnt get relegated.

Just goes to show that no matter what, we have no idea what's going to happen this season...

Whatever the outcome of the next few days, let's back Puel and the boys - I'm quietly confident.

I thought that sacking Pearson would kill our momentum stone dead from the great escape.

Underwhelmed with Ranieri.  I thought he would bring us boring defensive Italian style football.

I'm not wrong very often but...

..come to think of it, I get it wrong all the time and delighted to get that wrong.

I will say this though.  Post Christmas and esp after Man CIiy away, the rest of that season was the most stressful and unenjoyable of my life.  I realised that this was our chance to do something extraordinary and the chance would never come again.  The stress was horrible.  I hated every minute of it until Eden Hazard made Tottenham cry.

I can enjoy it in hindsight now.

I was raging at the names that were being touted as our next manager. Preki, Alardyce, pardew, curbishley etc. So when I heard Ranieri had the job I was delighted just for the fact it wasn't any of the mentioned managers.

I had no expectations going into the season. Was just going to go with the flow. The Chelsea game was the one where I thought we aren't getting relegated this season so I was over the moon.

I didn't think we would genuinely win the league until West Brom equalised against Spurs. Still surreal to think we actually won the league.

My reaction to CR being appointed was like feck no.

I thought he would fail with our little squad and small budget compared to most clubs he's bin at.

However like I do with players i was  willing to give him time to work some magic. And boy did he work it.

I remember sitting in our kitchen after i'd got home from the Sunderland match and me saying to the mrs if we play like that every week we'll win it(tongue in cheek). So we bet £20 each, and i've still not got that £20! Wish i had put a quid on at the bookies though!Funnily enough we had a really good weekend at Sunderland away and that's when i knew that we would win it!

Exactly this. Felt confident we'd be safe and didnt get the critics as he was only trying to keep us safe I thought rather than attempt to win the league.

In all honesty, I probably had us down to finish around 14th again.

I was surprised and concerned when Pearson left as I wasn't sure who the owners wanted. Ranieri seemed like a solid choice and remember, his job was to improve on the previous season, not do anything spectacular.

I was quite comfortable with his appointment.

Like King Carr I was relieved it was only Ranieri and not some of the other names that were being linked. I went to the Sunderland match and I remember my Dad and I discussing in the car what a crucial six pointer it could turn out to be.

Because of the form we showed when we Escaped, I believed (hoped) we'd continue that. Had €100 at 40/1 that we'd finish in the top 5.  Little did I know.....

Going into the 2015/16 season I was quite confident we would stay up, especially after we took Sunderland apart, only thing on my mind was how long we could play to that level before it tailed off.

This season, honestly, I'd be happy if we managed to stay up, I just have this feeling we are not going to be firing on all cylinders and will wobble around the bottom half of mid table.

Genuinely, hand on heart, I wasn’t that worried about the appointment of Ranieri. What helped was when he admitted that he didn’t need to change much/anything after getting a good reading of the players during his first training session with them and was pleasantly surprised with the pace at his helm. And that’s credit to Pearson and how much he did. Even though he wasn’t the manager during that season, it still feels to me like it was a joint effort from NP and Ranieri and why I’d always give them equal credit for the title win.

I also always use how we finish as a barometer.I had a top 4 bet and a top six bet and also a to win the league bet in october at 300 to 1.so did all right.Ive used the same logic this year and bet on relegation at 14 to one.Lets hope its a losing bet? Although I get a sneaky feeling we might nick a win on Friday.

We almost had a result at Arsenal last season under Shakespeare, the narrative around United's preseason has been overwhelmingly negative so the pressure is on them. Apparently Pogba's fed up with Mourinho and they're not settled in the centre of defence so here's hoping it leads to a good result.

Wasn't it just!

I tried my best to enjoy it and be laid back about it but it consumed my every waking minute. It wasn't until we lost at Arsenal that I truly believed we would be in the race until the conclusion and as Kingcarr21 said above, it wasn't until WBA drew at Spurs that I knew we'd win it. Then I could relax and enjoy it.
