RumbleFox Posted 9 January 2019 Posted 9 January 2019 Was born in Burton and lived there til I was 27 or something. Still "home". Not the greatest advertisement for the old Brewers but at least they gave it a go I suppose. Still, 9-0 is not great no matter who you're playing. X

The bloke intimidated referees to a ridiculous extent, openly let his players like Keane shout and scream at them, he put pressure on international managers not to pick his players and didn't talk to the BBC for 20 years because a reporter had the temerity to do his job. Ferguson had no class at all. and cos it's really true....you get another..
Wymsey Posted 9 January 2019 Posted 9 January 2019 Guardiola is quite a respectful and empathic individual; his comment here demonstrates this, tbh: "I am off for a glass of wine with Nigel Clough. I know how important his father was for English football, he was a genius. Incredible. It will be a pleasure to share some minutes with him." Can't imagine Mourinho, for example, ever saying this if his team had ever won so emphatically..
Asha Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 Not having this idea that you should take it easy against weaker teams if you start winning. Nah, fvck that, go for their throats. I was really pissed off at Germany in Brazil 2014 for stopping at 7-0 and not really attacking anymore. They should have gone for 10 and absolutely ended that whole team. It works to their advantage anyway. If they'd only won 2-0 say, they'd still have to put a shift in for the next game. At 9-0 up, they can put the kitchen staff out there and still comfortably see the tie through resting everyone in the process.
ScouseFox Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 did anyone actually watch the game? they were barely trying for most of it as it is, they’re just better than burton. gutted they didnt score 12 or 13 tbh, would’ve been wicked to see that
The Bear Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 Burton's problem was that every team they've beaten up uptil now has mostly put out a weakened XI. Tonight they came up against a very strong Man City and rightfully got mullered.
grobyfox1990 Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 Play a weakened team - disrespecting the competition Play a strong team - disrespecting English football by not blooding young English talent Do you job as a football manager and win football matches emphatically - disrespecting the competition My god, managers these days can't win.
Brainy Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 Anyone criticising for Man City for not going easy on them need to have a word with themselves
Footballwipe Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 Can't believe people are really taking a pop at Man City scoring nine. I only switched over when it got to seven. I only actually cared about the match because it was the equivalent of rubbernecking at a car accident. "Oh what's this? Someone 7-0 up with 22 minutes to go." It actually only got exciting when they started getting to mental numbers.

Tuna Posted 10 January 2019 Posted 10 January 2019 As an England fan, when playing the likes of San Marino, I'm unsatisfied if we're not winning at least 6-0. Take it easy?
woddyuk Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 They might regret not getting an away goal in the second leg

The Bear Posted 22 January 2019 Posted 22 January 2019 I assume you mean on aggregate, not just tomorrow?
Nalis Posted 23 January 2019 Posted 23 January 2019 Imagine Man City won 2-0 tonight but it transpired they fielded an ineligible player in the first leg thus resulting in a 3-0 win awarded to Burton in said first leg and sending them to the final....
spacemunky Posted 23 January 2019 Posted 23 January 2019 Thought if they'd scored first they'd have had a chance. No way back now.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 23 January 2019 Posted 23 January 2019 Football League should make this tie more interesting by introducing a 'next goal wins' rule.

Nalis Posted 23 January 2019 Posted 23 January 2019 Man City beat West Ham 9-0 on aggregate a few season ago so Burton were only one goal worse off to be fair.
Filbert_Ross Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 Am I right in thinking that if Chelsea get through our game against Brighton gets put back a day to the Wednesday?
KrefelderFox666 Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 7 hours ago, Filbert_Ross said: Am I right in thinking that if Chelsea get through our game against Brighton gets put back a day to the Wednesday? No, if Tottenham go through it gets moved to Wednesday. Reason is that Chelsea vs Brighton is Sunday 24th February. If Chelsea get knocked out of the league cup they will play that PL game meaning Brighton play on the Sunday. So our game vs Brighton would move to Wednesday to give them 3 days break. If Chelsea go through then the Chelsea vs Brighton game is postponed and allows us to play Brighton on the Tuesday.
