Stevosevic Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri is considering a January move for English right-back Danny Simpson, who played under him at Leicester. The 31-year-old is out of contract next summer. (Daily Mail)
Tuna Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 Can't see us letting him go with us so short of options at right back. We're an injury to Ricardo away from playing Albrighton there.
foxy boxing Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 He will most likely stay until the summer at least, unless we get reinforcements in January.
Nicolo Barella Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 Amartey is back soon, so I can see it happening. Doubtless the club would be happy with getting some money for him.
siraaj_lcfc Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 (edited) I'm expecting Claudio to swoop in for players like Simpson, Silva and Okazaki if im totally honest. Edited 22 December 2018 by siraaj_lcfc
Popular Post MPH Posted 22 December 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 22 December 2018 i’d hate to see us block a move for him as he has been an excellent servant of the club and first team football is probably high on his agenda righ now.. He is still on that huge contract he got from winning the league so it would actually make sense to let him go to Fulhama s spend a couple of million on a young back up with potential and have much lower wages..,
Alf Bentley Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 I thought Amartey wasn't due back for a couple of months yet? If so, there'd be a slight risk in letting Simpson go, but only a slight one - and we could always bring in a young back-up, as @MPH suggests. Being one injury to Ricardo away from having Albrighton at right back is a slight concern....but we've spent the season one injury to Vardy away from having Iheanacho, Gray or Okazaki up front - a bigger concern. Could be a good signing for Fulham, too, if it's not just media bullshit. The one thing Simpson can do well is to defend - precisely what Fulham need (haven't kept a clean sheet all season, I think?). He'd probably earn them a number of points just with his last-gasp clearances at the back post. A solid defensive PL right back who's still looked good enough when he's played this season....if you don't ask him to play attacking possession football.

Clever Fox Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 He's clearly not in future plans, And at 31 probably only has one contract left in him at this level so time to let him go. Even though I thought he was our best player on Tuesday against Man city. We really don't need him for cover either we have plenty of options. We need to reduce the squad and bring in more quality. Wymsey Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 (edited) Would provide them with stability on that defensive side. Probably would appeal to him, despite their current position - back to London, more likely to have regular playing opportunities etc. Edited 22 December 2018 by Wymeswold fox

Jimmy Posted 22 December 2018 Share Posted 22 December 2018 If Amartey is close or Claude thinks Knight, Pascanu or Johnson can cover then I’m all for letting him go
coolhandfox Posted 23 December 2018 Share Posted 23 December 2018 I wouldn't let him go unless Amartey is close to being back in training, we aren't going to get much of a fee as he's out of contract in the summer, I suppose we will save he's wages for a 6 months

Popular Post lifted*fox Posted 26 December 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 26 December 2018 i think because Danny is more of a traditional defensive RB he will stay and be utilised late in games like today where we want to push Ricardo forward and need to keep it tight at the back i'm fine with that tbh

BoyJones Posted 27 December 2018 Share Posted 27 December 2018 Doesn't make sense for him to go at the moment. He's come back into the fold, he's very professional in that position, no attacking threat, but is needed as cover. If if he goes on a free in the summer, he's more than paid his way over the last four years and deserves a final decent payday. Albrighton is wasted when playing fullback and also struggles positionally.
