Matt Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 Everyone claiming Cardiff will come to sit back and defend, i'm not sure they will, when i've seen them on tv i've been quite complementary to them in saying atleast they give it ago and don't just sit back and defend. So if that is the case there is no reason and no excuse for the sideways and backwards passing or the turgid, boring, slow 'build up' play. Now whether that tact has changed since I last saw them play or whether they decide they would be best to come here and sit back and defend is another question - Arguably they would given how ineffective and how we struggle to combat teams that come with that idea.

Cardiff will no doubt stick to the standard 40 yard compactness from front to back. They can't expect to park the bus for 90 minutes. When they do venture forward we will hopefully have the answers in transition. Will we see square safety balls allowing them to reset or will we get at them quickly. Really looking forward to seeing a new dawn to our play based on the last two games.

They defend well and are well coached, they will sit back & make us try and break them down hoping to catch us on the counter. We absolutely need to get an early goal to change the way Cardiff play. An early goal would be great - for us that is. Cardiff are not toothless; they sling the ball in for the big men from set pieces and they are dangerous with players like Bemba using his elbows. That said it should be food n drink for big Wes, Harry, Evans etc. provided they keep concentration. I’d play Vicente to use his passing to unlock their back line and to use his aerial presence at both ends.
Guest Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 Think this will be a tougher and altogether less exciting game than Man City. I understand the clamour for an unchanged team but given the busy schedule and the way Cardiff are likely to set up, I'd be a little disappointed if we lined up in exactly the same way. Chasing and harrying Man City is a very different challenge to trying to break down a stubborn, physical Warnock team who won't give us anything like the space we had on Boxing Day. Winning this would be a real sign of progress, for me. Too long now we've been a one step forward, two steps back kind of team. We've shown we can still punch above our weight against the big boys who come to attack and win, now let's show we can control and dispose of the lesser teams.

Yeah agree with this 100%, what do you think CP should do ?

Think we'll need Maddison on good form and that means he ought to be central, so the 4-3-3 might not be such a great idea. I'd be tempted to give Ghezzal a try out wide with Albrighton - Gray seems best when we play more on the break, forces him to run with the ball and be more instinctive with his decision making rather than trying to overcomplicate. But if you do that, it probably means Albrighton on the left and his two goals recently have come from him drifting in from the right. Who'd be a manager, eh?
foxinsocks Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 We start with same team with madison at no 10 and habsa on the wibg opodite albrighton. He needs to settle this 11. And madison at 10.

Fox85 Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 Won't be as easy as people think. But I reckon we will pull off lead at 1-0 half time. 3 -0 full time. Vardy to score first
KrefelderFox666 Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 I'd like to see an attacking formation Schmeichel Chilwell Soyuncu Maguire Ricardo Choudhury Mendy Gray Iheanacho Ghezzal Vardy

ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 Leicester have had a brilliant festive period, beating Chelsea and then Manchester City, but this is probably a tougher game than either of those fixtures.

the fox Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 Would be classic Leicester to win against Chelsea and Man City back-to-back just to somehow find a way to lose to Cardiff

As in there is more pressure to win? Or it's hard to sit deep and counter if the team isn't willing to play ball? On those 2 points I think we can somewhat Agree but can't see an argument besides that.
LCCFox96 Posted 28 December 2018 Posted 28 December 2018 Think he'll rotate a fair few out tomorrow with the Everton game coming up. Away at Goodison the system used against Chelsea and Man City should be similarly effective so wouldn't be surprised if we rested a few in anticipation of that. That being said, it's vital we build on the six point just earned in this game. Be interesting to see what he does. I'm guessing one of Hamza/Ndidi/Mendy will drop out for Gray into a 4231 formation and I wouldn't be too surprised to see Iborra, Evans or Fuchs play. I'm hoping Vardy is fit enough to battle on through both games as, regardless of who plays behind him, he'll be vital to whatever team we put out.

Hear hear. Sounds ridiculous but this will be a bigger test of Puel-ball than facing Chelsea or Man City, mad as it sounds. Huge question marks over his teams ability to break down and beat defensive teams which he needs to answer.

The emphasis will be on the Foxes to break down Cardiff, and there is also an expectation that Claude Puel's side will win. They don't usually seem to perform as well in those circumstances, but Saturday should be different.

Maybe stick with 433 but instead of Vardy inbetween two wider forwards, maybe Maddison in the no.10 role behind Vardy and maybe Albrighton up top with those two drifting wide, hopefully dragging the CBs with them and creating a hole in the box for Maddison to drift in to.
Fightforever Posted 29 December 2018 Posted 29 December 2018 My line up considering everton being very close by Ricardo morgan evans fuchs Iborra Mendy Maddison Ghezzel Vardy. Gray That team could get the win in my opinion Maddison subbed off at half time. Crucial we get the early goal so we can sub off the players we need for the everton game. We win against everton and 7th looks to be ours.
