I think too much long-term thinking is part of the reason we are struggling on the pitch, so I'm all for a bit of short term stuff myself, even if it is yet another young un.

It would have been nice to have an option, but at least the great Silva disaster has been dealt with at the same time, so I'm happy enough.

Well it's not really, as if there is no option Silva will simply be coming back next season OR he stays in Monaco, we don't get Youri and then we have even less midfield options than we do now.

I don't like the look of this loan. Could turn sour come summer.

Anyone have any idea what the alleged ‘issues’ with Jardim were? Can’t find much on a quick google

They both slept with Pearson's daughter.

So my understanding then is that the deal is a loan here without a view to permanent, but with us able to match any offer in the summer for him.

I personally think this makes the whole thing a bit pointless, unless Silva truly is desperate to get out of here and we see it as a chance to temporarily reduce the wage bill.

Monaco's desperation is what's landed us this because they need Silva more than we do Tielemans, as ridiculous as that sounds.

But with no option for a permanent in the summer I can't help but feel we've blown the chance to get the better of this deal. Monaco's desperation surely gives us the leverage to say we want the view to permanent in the summer.

This whole option of us matching any offer in the summer.... what does that even mean? Can we not just do that anyway?

I think in terms of our team it's a gamble worth taking, but it's only going to bring us short-term gain unless he's both brilliant and we spend an absurd amount in the summer to get it permanent. We're not getting him for £20million this summer if he's any good. It'll be double that.

The whole thing just seems a bit pointless to me.

I guess that is possible, as are some other combinations of staying/going. I'm surprised we can get anyone to pay most of Silva's wages at this point, tbh (if the various numbers that have been suggested are true).

I should have said something like, at least something has happened with Silva, and if we are lucky he will enhance his value..

Turn sour? In what way? If it doesn't work out he'll go back to Monaco.

An if he turns out to be good he moves on to another team and we could still be stuck with silva

Some more info on the transfer if you put this article through google translate.

Apparently accused of a lack of motivation by Jardim

Shit article mate, didn’t even mention them.

This is more positive.....

If the Leicester deal goes through, It is likely to be a loan agreement with Monaco, with a view to a substantive contract being signed in the summer.

I dont like getting loans in without some sort of agreement in place. If the deal happens we need to have an option on him surely?!

Don`t see how this benefits us really, in a second half of the season with nothing to play for, a good shop window for the player though.

Not at all clear to me we are playing for nothing. We are playing for 7th and possibly Europe. We are playing to be a top-half side in the Prem 2x in a row for the first time in what, forever? Or does it just seem like that? We are playing to impress and excite would-be summer transfers. We are playing to build a team that can contend for the top-6. We are playing to prove to those remaining holdouts that if we have the right personnel, we can score goals in the 4231 against the 451. We are playing to see whether Claude will be our manager next season.

There are intermediate steps on the way to where we want to go. If we skip them, or don't take them seriously, we may not make it. The better we finish this season, the better our chances of fielding an improved side with better players next season. It is critical that we continue to fight for our best finish possible so we can retain momentum during Leicester's best run in its history.

Any first option on a permanent in the summer?

So Monaco are paying 75% of 80k and we're paying 100% of Tielemans 95k?

Any option to buy?

No idea.

I don't see the fuss about the option to buy. Not every loan deal has to have it and if there was an option to buy, I doubt this deal would be getting done quickly. Gotta take in the perspective of Monaco here, too - they probably know they can get a decent fee for him in summer so don't want to be tied down with an option to buy in the deal. If he plays well with us, he's in the best league to make his name and be advertised, so to speak. If it doesn't work out, they don't really lose out and could still look to ship him out and perhaps cut losses.

Given Jardim's relationship with Tielemans, it does look like he'll be sold anyway at some point.

I just really, really hope that fans give him some reasonable amount of time to settle in and find his feet. Appreciate that it's a loan deal so time is short but let's not forget he's still only 21 and probably hasn't felt too settled in Monaco. I hope for his and our sake he sees this deal as a great way to showcase the talent he was showing for Anderlecht before he moved on.

So basically no one has a clue if we have any kind of clauses to buy him in the summer, we will find out when he is officially announced, probably Thursday.

I think so yeah. Just swapping seems mostly pointless unless Adrien forced a move.

Of course they will. lol

1) let’s hope we have an option to buy, even if it’s not mandatory

2) If we get this deal over the line, we are swapping a 29yr old midfielder who for whatever reason has had no impact for a 21yr old Belgian international often touted as potentially one of the best young midfielders in Europe

3) On paper - Chilwell, Ndidi, Maddison, Benkovic, Soyuncu, Choudhury, Tielemans - what a core of talented young players

4) We can have a chuckle at Spurs expense

ROFL. We’re about to swap a guy who hasn’t even made the bench for a month for a 21 year-old who started for Belgium in the World Cup, and people are bitching about the deal.

Insane isn't it.
