Seems like we'll be looking to go 3 in the midfield then.

Be nice if we did it properly. Ndidi, YT and Madders with three attackers in front of them. Might go some way to solving our creativity issues at home. Won’t happen though.

whos going to drop out at spurs so he can play fulltime, he would be stuck on the bench there and become another drinkwater.

Ah so that's what's happened to Drinkwater.. Someone's superglued him to a bench?

Can the moaners about this loan deal honestly say they'd rather watch Ndidi and Mendy for the next 14 games, because that's what this comes down to ultimately doesnt it? For the short term sanity, this is surely a good thing.

I do hear you Ric but this style of dogshit football is meant to be sufferable because we are in transition looking to the long term.... And for me that’s not the next 14 games to bed someone in to lose them but hey ho it may work out. If he’s shit we can say lucky escape and if he’s mediocre we may get to keep him. Joy.

Your right Ric, i think we are all worried if he does well we won’t be able to sign him in the summer.

Im really looking forward to seeing him play for us over the next few months, but the better he plays the less chance we have to sign him on a permanent deal.

I thought we were tired of losing to the likes of Cardiff at home? Not even Liverpool set up with such an attacking midfield three. Route 1 football would cut through us.

This shows, indisputably, that despite all the negativity Puel understands exactly where the greatest area of need is. He wants to play the way he did in Ligue 1, he just needs the players to do it.

It sucks if there’s no option, but it’s kind of a no-lose if nothing else. If we could somehow make it permanent and Tieleman’s works out, that would give us an unbelievable collection of 22-under talent.

Ok, tbh I know little about this lad. Assuming he’s decent, wheres he going fit into the side, and who’s likely to make way. I hope, having dragged him back from WBA it’s not Barnes! Both Mendy and Ndidi have been poor of late, surely the pressure is on them pair!

LEICESTER’S TIELEMANS MOVE PROGRESSING

Leicester’s talks with Monaco over a deal for Youri Tielemans are progressing well despite late interest from a number of Premier League clubs, Sky Sports News understands.

Leicester are hopeful a deal can be concluded for the Belgium international before the window closes on Thursday night but they are aware of interest from Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle.

The Foxes want to sign the 21-year-old on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Leicester are also discussing the possibility ofAdrien Silva moving to Monaco as part of a swap deal for Tielemans, according to Sky sources.

It is understood Leicester are reluctant to sign Tielemans without Silva going the other way, and Foxes boss Claude Puel admitted on Monday the two players have similar qualities.

Don't believe for one second we'd loan a twenty year old kid with no option to buy tbh.

Especially when we're comfortably mid table and he's clearly going to need time to bed down and settle.

When you consider that other midfield threes in recent times have included xavi & iniesta, de bruyne & Silva, coutinho, eriksen etc there’s no reason why we can’t play one holder and two more creative. Just because you can play a pass doesn’t mean you can’t put your foot in

Maybe the reason for the option to buy not being present in the deal is to avoid fees being exchanged at the end of the season, especially if Sporting and/or Anderlecht have sell on clauses. Would also help with FFP I guess. That might be why this is being referred to as a substantive offer.

If the manager really doesn't fancy Silva and Silva doens't want to play a bit part. It's best for all concerned for him to leave and be happy playing, us not have a  potential moaner hanging about, us be able to up his value if he does well there and the manager gets to have a look at a young talent who might fit his style more. If the lad improves the system, whether he stays after the loan or not. If it works, then we all get to see what the manager is thinking long term. It might buy him next season if the club say they'll go out and get that sort of player again in the summer.

Not at all clear to me we are playing for nothing. We are playing for 7th and possibly Europe. We are playing to be a top-half side in the Prem 2x in a row for the first time in what, forever? Or does it just seem like that? We are playing to impress and excite would-be summer transfers. We are playing to build a team that can contend for the top-6. We are playing to prove to those remaining holdouts that if we have the right personnel, we can score goals in the 4231 against the 451. We are playing to see whether Claude will be our manager next season.

There are intermediate steps on the way to where we want to go. If we skip them, or don't take them seriously, we may not make it. The better we finish this season, the better our chances of fielding an improved side with better players next season. It is critical that we continue to fight for our best finish possible so we can retain momentum during Leicester's best run in its history.

Yeah but what has the EU ever done for us?

Let's not also forget our issues with Silva here, the man is nearly 30 and on about 80 bags a week. If we stand any chance of recouping something on him then regular first team football for a weathly club is essential. Jardim evidently likes him and if he keeps them up then they may well come in with a £10-15m bid or a swap for Tielemans and we pay an extra £10m which would have been unheard of a week ago.

I also factor in the difficulty of recruiting in this window, it's a bloodbath and theres been very little movement considering the level of money in the PL. Come the summer when Fulham and Huddersfield are relegated, theres Seri and Mooy available that would slot in well here and that's without even being overly ambitious or casting the net far and wide.

What this loan deal gives us, regardless of whether we get him permanently in the summer is a chance to see how this squad can operate with a creative and dynamic central midfielder. If he does the business then we know what needs to be done to progress, which gives Puel the only real chance of saving himself here.

Babs respectfully, being able to see what is going on in Puels 4231 mind and getting the type of player we might need for 14 games with a view to maybe getting another player a bit like him that might give Puel another season isn't really selling it to me in any way whatsoever buddy.

Don't forget about the lure of Puel folks. I know most Leicester fans can't stand puel's demeanor but, did anyone else see the conversation he had with hazard after the Chelsea game? They were chatting and smiling their chops off. Maybe hazard had a word with him and told him Puel will play him so force for a move to Leicester?

Ok, consider that fans (myself included) are desperate for a short term fix as they can't buy in to what the supposed long term plan here is then what's not to like about it? We moan about being unable to break sides down and that Puel is a twat for not sorting it and then we now have potentially sorted it short term and fans would rather we didnt bother if it's only for half a season. So everything is long term then? In which case we have to suck up the shite in the forseeable future and let the empire be built. Cant have it both ways all the time.

It's a horrible window to operate in, I dont recall any other midfielders like Tielemans going to a club like ours permanently this month and we dont even know what the deal entails. I am a miserable bastard but I am astounded at the negativity about this, it shows me how irrational we are as a fan base right now.

Let’s be concerned with whether he plays well for us first rather than there being no option to buy!

If he helps us improve then that’s the job done, come summer we reevaluate whether we can sign him or move onto the next target; no harm done.

So the alternative is what? There are better scenarios, but if they aren't attainable then I see plenty of angles as to why this is a good move. Whether that's for the manager personally, the club getting more for Silva, fans getting to see the system perhaps work etc.

As a club we need a short term fix of some sort to help get rid of the toxicity that has begun to settle in.

I’ve been a very big critic of Puel lately but if he is behind this signing and has identified the need for more creativity in the middle then he deserves credit. On the flip side he probably knows he’s up against it and can’t afford to be patient so he needs to prove that with the right players his system does work.

If it comes off and Puel makes the tweaks needed and we start breaking down the teams we couldnt before then it might get Puel some credit in the bank, some of us might be able to buy into his vision more.

This I feel is Puels last roll of the dice, if he gets this wrong I think all the faith in him will be gone and he’ll be replaced at the end of the season.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am massively excited and can't wait to see him play and I'm all over the idea of him coming but I am really disappointed if it turns out we've got no option at the end of the loan to secure the deal if he turns out to be exactly what we need. I want more than a sticking plaster and think that an option to buy for 30 million euro should at least be in there otherwise we showcase a player and end up with Silva back and the same problems.

Can see that, two CDM's of the ilk we currently have doesn't work against all teams and we are crying out for a forward thinking alternative

Maybe we'll see a better balance between cautious and attack, everyone even Puel could get behind that.
