If the manager really doesn't fancy Silva and Silva doens't want to play a bit part. It's best for all concerned for him to leave and be happy playing, us not have a  potential moaner hanging about, us be able to up his value if he does well there and the manager gets to have a look at a young talent who might fit his style more. If the lad improves the system, whether he stays after the loan or not. If it works, then we all get to see what the manager is thinking long term. It might buy him next season if the club say they'll go out and get that sort of player again in the summer.

Oh I'm not questioning the basis of the loan. I just think people panicking because one twitter journo implies there's no option to buy are probably getting a bit ahead of themselves.

As a club we need a short term fix of some sort to help get rid of the toxicity that has begun to settle in.

I’ve been a very big critic of Puel lately but if he is behind this signing and has identified the need for more creativity in the middle then he deserves credit. On the flip side he probably knows he’s up against it and can’t afford to be patient so he needs to prove that with the right players his system does work.

If it comes off and Puel makes the tweaks needed and we start breaking down the teams we couldnt before then it might get Puel some credit in the bank, some of us might be able to buy into his vision more.

This I feel is Puels last roll of the dice, if he gets this wrong I think all the faith in him will be gone and he’ll be replaced at the end of the season.

What does this actually mean though? Fans are so quick to absolutely slag the bloke off after 1 bad result. If we get Tielemans in and we lose the first game he plays is that it? The Puel out brigade have already made their minds up. They will rear their heads after 1 bad result.

It would be nice to knock all the negative vibes on the head and actually give him the rest of the season. Taking a defeat on the chin and look at the positives.

For me, as long as we don't fall into a relegation battle then Puel can crack on with what he is trying to achieve.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am massively excited and can't wait to see him play and I'm all over the idea of him coming but I am really disappointed if it turns out we've got no option at the end of the loan to secure the deal if he turns out to be exactly what we need. I want more than a sticking plaster and think that an option to buy for 30 million euro should at least be in there otherwise we showcase a player and end up with Silva back and the same problems.

Dont we all, I've long wanted Tielemans ever since we had been reported to be scouting both him and Dennis Praet during our title winning season. Had we got both of them rather than Mendy and Kapustka then we'd have been much better off. We still have no idea what the deal is, I'd rather kid myself we stand a chance of getting him in the summer and if we dont then we go again. Cambiasso only did a year and it was the most soul destroying feeling since we lost Collymore because Taylor was a nonce. We recovered very well from losing the former to reach the holy grail, sadly theres parallels between Taylor and Puel so now I'm really scared! Haha.

I see why you are hesitant, because in our minds we are the ones getting the better deal here in the loan swap, but Jardim clearly must really rate Silva, and as for Silva, you just know he is going to put absolutely everything into getting his career back on track after the disaster of the last 18 months.Assuming he does well and they want to buy him, we are going to be in a strong negotiating position ourselves.

Either way, at least we can see what happens if we add an attacking midfielder to the mix.

As for Puel - it's so confusing to know what to think about him with the way this season has gone, but I am pretty confident we wouldn't have Ricardo with us right now or Tielemans on the way if it weren't for him.

Few scenarios here:

  • YT and AS are both crap at their loanee clubs. Both return at the end of the season and we pretend like nothing ever happened.
  • YT is crap but AS does well. We send YT back without any repercussion, and Silva has probably upped his price/found a suitor so we'll have more money to invest in someone else.
  • YT does well but AS is crap. We've probably cost ourselves around £10m in this case, as Monaco will now be pushing for around £30m. However, if he's done well enough to boost his value then he's probably contributed to us finishing higher - possibly in 7th - which comes at about £3m per spot (plus more for Europe) so much of that increase will be absorbed by that. We'll lose a bit of value on Silva but still won't have too much trouble finding someone to take him.
  • YT and AS both have solid loan spells. Both managers want to keep the players, so a swap plus some extra cash from us should be enough to satisfy both clubs.

The third scenario is the only one where we might miss out on YT to another club, but when we cut wages from Okazaki, Fuchs et al in the summer we'll be in a strong position to compete financially with any clubs who are realistically interested (i.e. Spurs), and we'll have the added benefit of 5 months working with the player and endearing him to the club.

An option would be nice to tie things down, but if we have to forego that to get the transfer across the line then so be it. We won't miss out too much

Regardless of what type of deal is in place to bring him here, this has to be one of the highest profile signings we've ever made. If you made a list of the most promising central midiflders in Europe under 21, what would that list be? Probably:

Frenkie DeJong (currently at Ajax, going to Barcelona in the summer for 90M)

Houssem Aouar (Lyon, 20 years old)

Tanguy Ndombele (Also Lyon, 22 years old likely to go to Man City in the summer)

Youri Tielemans (200+ appearances, Champions League, ex Monaco captain, 19 caps for Belgium)

Given that we all think the team needs more creativity in central midfield and that our strategy is to sign exciting young players, I don't think we could have signed anyone better than this player. Doesn't mean he will work out, but I do applaud the club for even trying it! Even if the player doesn't join us for good in the summer it does show that it's recognised as a position for improvement, which is also good to know.

Hopefully we get him in for the next home game at the KP.

Stop with all this positivity, I'm nearly coming round to the idea.

Just watched a 10 min video on him that is the best thing I've seen since Mia Khalifa.

The passing, the dribbling, the long range shots, the free kicks, the penalties, the ability to create space. I dont care what climate or level this has been at compared to the Prem, he is unbelievable. I'm predicting 12 starts, 1 sub appearance. 6 goals, 2 assists and he'll go in to the hall of fame of loan players that once played for us.

Its not just been one bad result or bad performance though has it? There have been consistent poor results and ever poorer performances over the past 12 months. How many times have people come away saying ‘thats the worst half of football i’ve ever seen’ and thats just this season alone.

A lot of his defenders have been saying he’s 1 or 2 signings off making things really work and he needs another window etc. I think this signing is an audition for that window, if he gets this wrong and performances and results remain consistently poor (not just 1 game but 14) then he probably won’t be trusted with that window. If performances pick up and it shows that with the right personnel he can push things in the right direction it might give him the evidence to prove that what he’s doing is working.

At the minute the evidence he has is very flimsy. Especially in regards to performances on the pitch.

I'm predicting debut banger against United.

Great signing when it's confirmed. Slightly disappointed that it's not a loan with an option to purchase, however if silva does well, it gives us a great starting position with Monaco to negotiate a permanent deal.

Think it's also important that we show young European players that Leicester is a place for the best young talent to go to if they are coming to England. English players seem to understand our willingness to help them progress, but this could be a first step to show players that instead of going to the bright lights of Chelsea etc when they first come to england, that coming to Leicester to develop and then head onto those teams would be a better option. We win as our team has increased quality and can get a healthy profit when the top 6 pay over the odds for them.

This is great, minus Frankie de Jong being at Ajax :D
