PloTok Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Players looked liberated to me. First 20 minutes were a joy to watch. Great goal from Gray, they didn't know where we were, just too slick. Excellent movement from Vardy for his goal, pulled away from the defender to create the space. Tielemens ran out of steam and is not the best defensively anyway; a wise substitution to bring Mendy on despite his more, achem, defensive passing, just to shore things up a bit. I would have subbed Madison off sooner, I think he could use some bench time. Barnes was colossal. How many shots? We've got a prospect there. Maguire's run at goal, what a hoot. I think he got pissed off with Mendy's pass back and decided to show him which way forward was. It looked clumsy but who needs grace when you can beat players like that! We rode our luck (Murray missed 2 sitters) and we looked defensively ropey but we saw the game out well enough. I think Rodgers saw a fair display of what we can and can't do and will know where to prioritise. He's got a job on his hands but I reckon he has the tools at his disposal. We play like a team and clearly have both talent and spirit. We just need tightening up, polishing and pointing in the right direction.
foxfanazer Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Not sure why Choudhury has been frozen out all of a sudden
knitro Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Wolves losing in added time v Huddersfield means it's 5 points to 7th, currently held by Watford. Big game this weekend.
Clarkey123 Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 great much needed win, Gray although a fairy took his chance well, Maddison needs to hit the gym, Barnes top class
Babylon Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Some great bits, some of the old glaring errors. Frankly I don't think some of them will get sorted until the players are just more experienced. We are so nieve and our own worst enemy at times, plenty of coaching and minutes under the belt ahead before we lose that from our game. Though Gray was fantastic tonight, he's been woeful of late and really stepped it up several level. More of that and he might have cracked it. Barnes another one with some great bits. But again at times his inexperience showd when he didn't use runs to create space for himself, or didn't take the extra step into the box to put their defender under extra pressure. It will come, he gets in great positions and once it clicks he'll smash it. Maddison... frustrating again, taking too many touches, wanting too much time or mos controlling every other pass to him. I want more from him, these are easy fixes. Keep it simple and lay it off quicker now and again. Full of promise and exciting to see what Rodgers can do. Desperately wanted Claude to succeed, but I think we can all see the groundwork and foundations that have been put in place, and Rodgers could build something special on them.
copunk Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Agreed i thought gray had one of his best games of the season, i really feel hes gonna kick on under rodgers and become much more of a consistant threat, ricardo was solid, felt maguire and evans were decent and did an ok job against a side who are dangerous from set peices, mendy did a tidy job when he came on, maddison aside from his assist was terrible, and echo all about harvey barnes, what an engine the lads got on him, just needs that 1st goal and its off to the races, the relief at the final whistle was massive

hackneyfoxx Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 schmeical , barnes, maguire - great stuff..... positive but ropey team...need rodgering...

EastAnglianFox Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Barnes is twice the player Maddison will be isnt he? I love Vards to bits but he just hasnt got that fear factor anymore it seems and doesnt seem that hard to play against. 3 points much needed but have played better in the last few weeks and come away with nothing

Alex_LCFC Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Hearing all this about madders, I think as lightweight and sloppy his passes were (some) he deserves huge credit for vardys goal
kingfox Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Mixture of a performance tonight, some moments of brilliance but we also rode our luck at times. A lot of backwards and sideways passes at times again tonight; however when the likes of Tielemans, Gray and Barnes found space we looked quite dangerous. Maddison got a much needed assist but his overall decision making again was piss poor, Vardy got a much needed goal but struggled at times. Defence looked a bit ropey, luckily for us Brighton's finishing was poor.

RowlattsFox Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Job done, better at times but let's not pretend it was great. Puel will be sat at home thinking there is no way Brighton miss those chances if he's still in charge.

Xen Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Good result, average performance. Gray was good, Barnes a revelation. Apart from the second goal Maddison was poor and Vardy a passenger. Plenty for Rodgers to work on.

DerbyshireFox Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 That was tricky to watch, but we got over the line. Harvey is going to be a great talent, once he gets on the scoresheet, watch him fly. Demari had his best game in a very long time - if he can keep that form up happy days. Maybe harsh on Brighton but we were due some luck. an Brendan Rodgers Blue White Army
leicesterseddon Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Good win, but very nervy performance. I feel we miss Iborra tbh, just to have someone there to calm things down.
