Personally think this guy deserves more credit. I think he was the one who chose Brendan, he probably met him/ had contact from when they were both youth coaches back in the day. He's been pivotal in us going for young English talent and am for one glad that he's the director of football. Think he took some unjust stick before, but he is Leicester through and through and hope he stays for the long haul! Thoughts?

No it was totally justified, but he does finally seem to be finding his feet

No one knows .............

All we do know is that he and Susan are running the show and are very private about it ........

Yeah still finding his feet....after everything we've achieved in the last few years all people can come up with is 'he's finding his feet.'

Luckily the owners realise that he has actually been good for us over the years.

A lot more credit needs to go to him but I guess it's more likely Vardy and Kaspar fired Puel and then forced Brendans hand to come over here. And then was cambiasso who negotiates the contracts? I can't keep up.

tbh I've been a big critic in the past but tbh, the guy hasn't done a bad job at all over the years, considering where we're at, who we've now got managing us and the long-term youth plan that we seem to have adopted.

if he's now the one driving this vision across successive managers then we will have stability even with changes of staff - I'm all for it.

as mentioned, Iv'e been critical but at the moment feel more than happy to eat my words and give praise where it's due.

I've been very harsh on him over the years, mainly to due with the way the academy is being held back but he does seem to have learnt from the mistakes made as a DOF. Fair play to him, Top and the board seem to have unflinching trust in him.

A big part about being an effective DOF is contacts in the game and respect from your peers. Jon is making ‘friends’ etc, year on year plus some contacts he made as he came through the ranks here are now becoming established elsewhere.  He will become more successful in his role as a result of this and his experience.

I mean something that is venerated in football today is the ability to promote within your club and reward local or long-term coaches by rising up the ranks and creating a meritocracy  rather than always relying on whatever bloke you can bring in on big money to do the jobs for a few years, it’s something Barcelona are accredited for endlessly. Rudkin has been here for years in a few different roles and clearly knows the club which from

the outside looking in, makes him look like an ideal candidate for the role. However there seems to be a recurring belief seemingly spouting from nowhere that because he rose so quickly and was always with the owners, he was some kind of yesman or he kissed up to get where he is.

Another big issue that’s developed is no one seems to know exactly WHAT he does, we’ve never been presented a list of his duties and since Pearson it’s been unclear what his role is and how far it extends. When Pearson was here Nige was clearly overlooking the sports science team and the club psychologist and Walshy was clearly head of recruitment, it seemed that Nige was given a lot of license  at the time, so what did Rudkin do? It seemed he was solely blamed for any bad idea or corporate blunders during the time, although we have no way to know how much he was in co-ordination with Pearson at the time. Perhaps he was the bridging link between Pearson’s vision and the Thais? We’ll likely never know the extent of his role at the time.

Then Ranieri came in, Macia would follow but Rudkin seemed to still take the brunt of any transfer mistakes and seemed to operate as the club relief ball for anything that went otherwise wrong in its best season ever. His role in regards to Macia was never clarified and I think that again came to hurt his reputation. The positivity around the club at the time seemed to in part thanks to any complaint could handily be discarded as a small “fvcking Rudkin” rant, then move on.

When Ranieri’s magic faded, and after his departure, the chaos and managerial roundabout since has seen him now as the only stable face of authority that can be used as a target for our mistakes (the Thais being generally well-regarded pre-October and rightfully untouched post-October).

However it was on that awful, awful night, when we had reports Rudkin may have been on the helicopter, we saw a lot of genuine concern and grief. And since, I think we’ve seen the higher ups in a new light, especially in the immediate aftermath.

Its clear that Rudkin was never a ready made DoF. And undoubtedly there may well be stuff I mentioned here, and myriad of other issues the club have faced that we’re in fact his doing, but the very decisive signing of Brendan Rodgers almost immediately seems like a massive plus for him. I’m hoping with Rodgers we may see a new side of Rudkin that can be seen to operate the club efficiently and competently in the future.

We are blessed to have a club that seems organised from top to bottom these days, a far cry from yesteryear when I used to cheer on the lads in the 80s. Whether its the clubs merchandise, the website, the recruitment drive, owners, facilities, plans etc, we are blessed with all these things. Rudkin is one that must take credit for part of this structure and part of the success. Im not so sure why he gets so much grief around here but we have a large fanbase and its only natural that whoever we talk about will have a share of negativity. The bloke deserves a bit of respect on the Brendan Rodgers situation. I saw an interview where Neil Lennon said he had a call from Rudkin regarding Lennon coming in on a temporary basis so he thought Brendan may not want to leave with Celtic fighting for honours so had a contingency plan. He moved quickly and its an amazing bit of work for Rudkin and the club to get such a high calibre manager mid-season.

still think that in most organisations whoever was at the top when £ 30 million of the business' money was wasted on an "asset" which was unfit for purpose and turned out to be valueless after less than 2 years  would do well to avoid the bullet
