SouthStandUpperTier Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 2½ games into the Premier League's return and the only real excitement so far courtesy of a faulty Hawkeye and a faulty David Luiz. 1
Leicester_Loyal Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 I think a lot of the first weekend of games will go like this, bore 0-0s or someone nicking a 1-0 win, they just don't have the match fitness or intensity to turn it up a gear. Oh well, if the teams around us can't pick up wins, even if we don't either it'll get us closer to CL.

Vardy could feast.

Gary Neville made the comparison with cricket commentary - their commentaries describe the conditions, the tactics, what the bowler is attempting to do the batsmen. When football punditry involves analysis, it's normally a narration rather than an explanation. Nonsense such as 'he's hit that hard' rather than what's actually being attempted there. Neville is one of the few is doing it. Goalkeepers for example are forever criticised yet very rarely do actually have analysis from a goalkeeper explaining the action. Tactics as well probably more so than the skill - Neville quickly pointed out what Arsenal's front three were doing against Man City by comparison Hinchcliffe is great explaining a corner technique but does very little otherwise. The n**bs like Sutton, Mills et al provide no expertise. Just an opinion. Which is a bit like this place really. There was a great example either this season or last of how Dean Henderson made a great save from a free kick and why crossing your feet is necessary to get across goal quickly for certain saves. Pundits just left as a 'great save' as opposed to why. Would have been great for the fans and also for all the young (and recreational) keepers out there to learn from this.

Stadt Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 Going back to the pundit discussion earlier, I’m watching some Bein sports stream and forgot that Andy Gray was actually very good. On the other hand though Richard Keys is a massive cretin and if he got hit by a meteor it’d be a positive for humanity
SAFC1 Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 Southampton win with Ings scoring 4/1 in-play. Tempting.
Dahnsouff Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 (edited) Ings is a good finisher Edited 19 June 2020 by Dahnsouff

walkerleeds Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 They'd want silly money but Ings is the ready made replacement for Vardy
Leicester_Loyal Posted 19 June 2020 Posted 19 June 2020 4 months on I'm still wondering how we managed to lose to Norwich.
