I just cant stand the championship. Its absolutely awful in just about every way.

Mostly shit players who think theyre decent but arent, but you have to pretend to like them.

Grounds 1/3 empty yet high prices and all to watch a product that isnt good.

8 more dull games a season at shit times no one can be bothered with like midweek in january when its freezing and the game is dire

Noticably less and worse media coverage.

And your club losing the few good players it has to proper teams.

Hope we never end up there again in my lifetime

I agree I hope we never go back there, I certainly don't want to get relegated again, but there are some half decent sides in the league who generally end up coming up and, on various occasions, staying up.

A lot of fans who's team is in it claim it's better than the Prem because you can see your team win a lot more and it's more competitive. But the truth is it's a dour, relentless grind playing shit over-rated teams with shit over-rated footballers who cost way more than they'd be worth in any other country.

All those fans are desperate for promotion. Did Leeds fans cheer when they lost the play-offs last season? Did Derby fans hope they'd lose at Wembley? I doubt those fans are Sunderland, Stoke, Huddersfield fans.

Leicester, Wolves, Bournemouth, Palace fans who've all seen their team in the Championship in the past 10 years wouldn't go back there. You want to play against the best, see good players and managers join your club, the ground full for each match, the possibility of European football. You don't get that in the Championship.

If they could swap with us they'd take it in a heartbeat.

I completely agree.

However I've heard plenty of fans who get promoted, struggle, get relegated, then say "The Championship is better, it's more competitive and at least we get to win games most weeks."

It's bullshit yeah, but people say it.

Id take lower league football over the championship.

In the lower leagues ill happily watch a side like Tamworth or Solihull. Its pretty cheap, of course its poor football but it doesnt pretend not to be, its generally very friendly at the grounds and you dont spend time wading through pee filled toilets or paying excessive amounts on food and drink. Late comers dont shift you out the way as much etc.

Compare that to that championship, its EXPENSIVE for an inferior product. The away days can cost a fortune. Ive been charged from memory over £35 to go to places like Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday. For nothing games. Its cheaper going to a premier away sometimes with the new ticket initiatives.

And its a league that pretends to be this kind of exciting, honest football league when in reality unless youre getting promoted its a tedious boring slog devoid of any kind of quality.

Ive sat there on a midweek night, loads of empty seats, rain coming down and watching a terrible game almost wishing i was at home with the champions league on.

The longer you stay down there youll probably just go down again as players ebb away and you either play kids or just worse replacements.

The thing about the Championship is the quality of player is just as high or even higher than in most other country's main leagues.  Plus it has the playoffs which I shouldn't be fond of given my only personal memories of them ended with Kermo being decent and Deeney day, but making it so finishing 6th is something worth playing for makes it more entertaining throughout the entire season given that most years you only have 3 or 4 teams competing for the top 2 spots and they'd be the only ones with something to play for if we didn't have a playoff system.

Throw in that the television choices are actually at worse times too. Sunday noon kick offs this year and more likely for odd fixtures around the festive/Easter period

Interesting appointment by Reading... he is/was their Sporting Director... he has appointed himself as manager

And sacked the last one.

And sacked the last one.

- Hired as sporting director 7 months ago

- Heavily involved in the sacking of the old manager

- “Draws up the shortlist for new managers”

- Hires himself as manager

One hell of a play to get his way into a Championship managerial role

I think the Championship is great to watch as an outsider, if anything it'd be a flip of a coin between watching a game from there and a PL tie.

Wouldn't want LCFC to be in it ever again obviously but it's damn good to follow.

One of the solicitors argued that he shouldn't get prison because he'd lose his job.

I can't accept that as an excuse to avoid meaningful punishment.

Because not being able to drive means you can't play football?

Never harmed Richard Keogh not being able to drive oh wait.

It's just another instance of the hugely privileged getting more privilege.

If it were a civil servant or manual laborer the punishment would be grossly different. Leaving the scene of an accident under the influence? I can't image any judges being sympathetic. A friend of mine had a drunk crash and injured somebody, very similar circumstances, and got 3 years.

The difference is that they were nigh on unemployable when they were released and didn't have a financial safety net.

Leeds United have announced plans to expand Elland Road to 50,000 as part of their centenary celebrations. Just concept image at the moment, and I think it indicates a possible Qatari takeover.

They just need to be a successful team and then they be alright! :P

I've looked at this image for ages trying to figure out what about it indicates a Qatari takeover?
