Popular Post Ricey Posted 2 July 2019 Popular Post Posted 2 July 2019 I don’t get why people worry about transfer fees so much. It’s not our money. We are getting a good Premier League player who fills a void in our squad and who should need little time to adapt. I’ll take that. 6
HybridFox Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 Being a former Mackem, maybe Congerton wants to p*** off the Newcastle fans
foxfanazer Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 (edited) £30m is a tad on the expensive side but if B Rodge has identified him as a player to improve us then who really cares? Just so long as it doesn't hinder us making other deals Edited 2 July 2019 by foxfanazer 2
nettle Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 We paid £12.5 million for Ghezzal and Perez is at least twice the player that he is and that's the way I'm looking at it.
Suzie the Fox Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 TBH if this all pans out it just shows how much of paper talk is to be believed. Until our ITK broke the news no one had Perez on their radar. We should consider doing the same when one of our players is liked with some big club for some fictional amount and not going all weirdo anti mode about it

Just so long as it doesn't hinder us making other deals It probably is abit but then £80+ for Harry is perhaps also a 'tad' expensive to sell ... swings and roundabouts i guess 1

I care less about the actual fee and more what it means in the context of our likely spend for the window. Put bluntly, if Perez is the only attacking midfielder / winger we sign, I'll be disappointed. If he's a backup to Vardy / versatile forward to give us options, I think he's a great move and I'm happy but if 30m means we can't now afford a more inspiring wing reinforcement then I do care that we've spent that much on Perez. 12 1
Nicolo Barella Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 £30 million :^( I can't rationalise that away. It's too much.

After Rafa and the buyout not looking likely they're all so ****ing depressed they don't even really care who's in the squad. Literally a non reaction, just a resigned "meh" from the lot of them, not because they hate him but just because supporting their club is already so miserable. I do feel for them tbh. It's crazy how things have turned out for us and them respectively. I always regarded them as a massive club growing up, and they routinely beat us even during the halcyon O'Neill years, Alan Shearer being a particular thorn in our side, or boot in Neil Lennon's face to be more literal.

On what basis? We've just signed Justin and are looking very likely to sign a top European midfielder in Youri and so what if we've paid Ayoze out of his buyout, our current options of Ghezzal, Gray and Albrighton aren't exactly the clubs top scorers are they? Perez is.... The bloke is class compared to our current options 2
Popular Post Jonezy Posted 2 July 2019 Popular Post Posted 2 July 2019 Isn't he like exactly what we need? A hard working offensive player, that can both play on the flank and as a striker. His tackles stats suggest, that he will fit right in with Brendan's pressing game. Not a name that really vows you, but he really do look the perfect player for Brendan's plans. 18

Proper decent on Championship Manager too...

Master Fox Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 Hopefully be can flog Gray this window. Make up the difference.
iamafox Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 And here I thought Ulloa cost a bomb when we signed him...

Nicolo Barella Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 It's not that £30 million is too much for him, but isn't he on his last year of contract?

Popular Post Aesc Posted 2 July 2019 Popular Post Posted 2 July 2019 (edited) Not seen one of these done in a while! Quite difficult to do on my phone. I was gonna add Mahrez 17/18 too as a barometer, but it just wasn't fair.. I think Perez's ability to press from the front is a big reason for Rodgers wanting him. Tuna Posted 2 July 2019 Posted 2 July 2019 Absolutely love signings like these that just come out of nowhere. He'll be a very good signing for us, he's got loads of Premier League experience and will add versatility and quality to the squad. If we can get a top quality winger in and get Tielemans in whilst keeping everyone, we're good to go. 2
