Wow! That's a whole new perspective nobody thought of. Drinkwater was the world class player and Kanté was the plodder that Drinkie made look world class.

Which just goes to show that being a professional footballer is not always the easy life that everyone assumes.  OK so he would not be earning megabucks at the likes of Accrington but would still have made a more than comfortable living. Feel really sorry that illness has cut short his career, and fair play to him for being honest about the situation. Hopefully this will also give others suffering with this type of illness the courage to seek help.

Yeah real shame as he's a local lad. Used to see him running round Rearsby in the off season when he was at Torquay a few years back. Clearly got some demons. And despite accepting them and trying to speak out in public, it looks like he's not fully able to cope with them behind closed doors.

 

Hope he gets well and finds some comfort in life. Will certainly be a pint or soft drink waiting on the bar of the village pubs round here if he ever fancies just sitting down and not discussing football.

It must be one of the worst jobs around with regards to stability. 
You are programmed to play, yet often you are left out of the team, often with little communication.

If it were a normal job, this wouldn’t be allowed to happen. It’s a brutal sport, you are treated like a god when they want you, and dumped when you aren’t.

i can understand the lack of stability and I think moving away from football might mean he can lead a more balanced life.

Ex-player heaven at Derby v Huddersfield yesterday- Davies, Lawrence and Waghorn for Derby. King, Simpson and Stearman for Huddersfield.

 

Hamer ineligible too.
