Ex Players - They used to play for us

Was at Birmingham-Huddersfield tonight.

In this post lockdown world, away players at St Andrews use a supporters bar as the changing room and they have to go outside in towels to use showers in mobile cubicles. Bizarre.

Anyway, Andy King stopped for a (socially distanced) chat, still a lovely bloke.

Did he play? If so how did he get on?

Out of contract Leicester City forward George Thomas is QPR's first new signing for the 2020/21 season.

Facts

George Thomas is a 23-year-old, five-foot-eight-inch, attacking midfielder or forward from Leicester.

He came through the youth ranks at Coventry City, making his debut just shy of his seventeenth birthday with a 45-minute outing at Leyton Orient in League One in January 2014. He made a further seven appearances for the Sky Blues in 2014/15 and nine in 2015/16 as well as five outings in League Two while on loan at Yeovil Town.

His breakout year came in 2016/17 as a 19-year-old. He played 36 times that year, opening his professional goalscoring account in a 4-2 win at Wycombe in November and going on to bag nine goals across the season. He became something of a hero of Cov’s successful run to the final of the JP Trophy, scoring twice against Wycombe (once in the semi-final) and once against Brighton’s U23s on the way to Wembley then bagging the winning goal against Oxford under the arch with an immaculate touch and volleyed finish from 20 yards.

Richie de Laet won the Belgian Cup last night meaning a possible Europa League fixture against Royal Antwerp.

As the teams taking part were understandably not allowed to field players signed this summer but those departed couldn’t play either, Antwerp were missing nine players from last seasons regular line up.

Why did we buy him? We just halted his career

Any older fans remember Steve Prindiville?

Ended up getting to know him when he sold me some furniture through FB Marketplace.

Tried to find some information on him. He made 1 sub appearance for Leicester City against Shrewsbury Town in 1987. I dont think even the older fans remember him.

I’m pretty sure I saw his only first team start as LB - Shrewsbury away under Pleat? Was it Peter Weir’s debut too?

Very forgettable game.

Which I’ve forgotten.

Still think he could be a good lower-half PL right-back. Although shame injuries seem to have blighted his career since he left us.

Think we outgrew him in the end, but he was a very good player for us during the Championship winning season and great escape season.
