Thank you Maguire

I feel a bit sorry for him in all honesty. But he's shown our brilliant young players that the grass isn't always greener. We all know (and so do they) he is regretting his decision now. Leicester is the team, Rodgers is the manager. It looks from the outside like a fantastic place to work. So thank you Harry for providing a cautionary lesson.

If you're thinking this will buck the trend I fear you might be disappointed. Wouldn't be surprised to Maddison, Chilwell, Ndidi and Tielemans all move in the next couple of years. Sadly the draw of the money and the 'big club' status is what drives on the majority of modern footballers.

The Maguire deal could make them all give us a year or two more than they would have done though

I dunno, if I was a footballer with no connection to a club other than playing for them for a couple years, and got to move to a traditionally massive, world wide club who I supported throughout childhood and dreamt of playing for, and in my first season captained them in Europe whilst earning nearly 200k a week, I wouldn't mind too much.

I hope you’re right, but I thought this had been Drinkwaters job

If we become the new big club on the block, and silverware potential is high on our realising-potential...those guys have no need to go anywhere...

In 3 seasons they still will be at their peak..26-27,and have created their own history.....with still a Ronaldo-career in Front of them..!!

I genuinely have no bitterness or ill feeling towards him at all.

Man Utd are a huge club and can pay him huge wages that can set him and his family up for life.

It's not his fault that they're an unbelievable mess behind the scenes and are the worst they've been on the pitch for 40 years.

He served us very well, for all his faults.

He represented us for England at a World Cup Semi Final.

He led last year's Vichai March with his injured teammates.

He behaved professionally and set an exemplary precedent on how a player should act when on the verge of a big move.

He earned us a WORLD RECORD FEE when we all know he's not worth that.

He also paved the way for Cags.

Huge respect to him for all of that.

So no, absolutely no bitterness from me whatsoever.

Thanks Harry.

(Though it is ****ing funny how it's all gone wrong)

Heavily doubt he regrets anything, he’s a professional footballer, his pay slip will be all the vindication he needs.

As others have said, if you want an actual example of the pitfalls of taking a big money move Danny Drinkwater is far better.  But then Kante and Mahrez show you can move on to better things if you are good enough.

The bitterness towards Maguire is baffling, everyone got what they wanted from that transfer, let’s move on.

Is this tongue in cheek? I mean, your profile photo insinuates at least some level of bitterness?

No, it's genuine. I meant all of that. No bitterness whatsoever.

Schadenfreude perhaps. But no bitterness.

Soyuncu is a better player.

He plays with so much heart every single game. He’s better on the ball, he’s quicker, he’s stronger, and most importantly he’s got personality. We ****ing love players with personality.

And that’s all that matters. We pulled Man Utd’s pants down big time.

Rudkin gets some stick, but he played a ****ing blinder yet again.

We shouldn’t miss Maguire one bit.

The feck? Sorry for someone who never saw us as anything else but a stepping stone?

I'm scratching my head about why people are giving him so much attention. He behaved properly, did a relatively good job in two of our not so remarkable seasons and then fecked off as soon as he could. Nothing more, nothing less. Hardly stuff of legend or worthy of (a) thread(s).

I never felt a real connection to the lad and doubt he'll stay in the club's folklore aside from the banter, as we sold him for approximately the double of his real worth.

Why so much bitterness towards a player who was brilliant for us I'll never know. Good luck Harry.

I'd question the brilliant part but otherwise, yeah I agree. Goes down on a par with the likes of Spencer Prior in the grand scheme of ex Leicester players really.

This is nearly as cringeworthy  as the Brexit thread..........anyway I'm off to the Brexit thread to get a sense of some sort o f reality, who knows there might be someone on there that thanking Diane Abbott for being a leader of truth and justice for her party

Got absolutely no ill-will towards HM at all. He was a good player for us and we got more than a fair price for him. I actually think he's been decent overall for United so far (although probably not £80m worth of decent). Their problems are mainly at the other end of the pitch.

Way too early to be looking back at Maguire in this way. Ok we are riding the Crest of a wave at the moment but it is still early days. Remember they dismissed us away at Old Trafford and Maguire gave quite a composed performance in that one. He isn't world class but I think time will tell. At the end of the season will be when we can start to reflect on that in my opinion.

Perhaps he does and then checks his bank balance and then he feels heaps better?

It is strange how so many have turned on him. In delighted we're ahead of them, but we'd all do the same as he did (if we weren't lcfc fans!). He was great for us, on and off the field, and we got a massive stash of money for him too.
