I’m currently 4 days into 2 weeks of isolation as I have symptoms. Not sure what a potential lockdown will mean for seeing my 7 year old daughter who lives 40 miles away 😣

Unfortunately it means you will have to get accustomed to voice or video chats for the foreseeable future

Keeping the country working will spread it just as fast, Saturday service on the bus this morning meant peeps were packed in like sardines before they got to work.

It won’t if we just have the essential services working

They'll have to prove they're key workers before they get on the tube then

The scenes from today of hundreds of people forcing themselves on to crowded trains needs to stop

But it’s not only keyworkers travelling today

We've already been advised not to undertake unnecessary travel and to avoid socialising, so a lockdown will just force us to do what we've already been asked to do but unfortunately some haven't listened.

We haven't seen my partners 8 and 6 year old for two weeks, we missed one of their birthdays yesterday. We have no idea when we will see them again.

It's shit, but it's necessary.

Yeah exactly. My company provides software and managed services for the NHS and some of the government arms. There’s an argument there to say we’d be an essential service but not everybody in the company is required to keep all of those things ticking over. Tricky.

Is the guy on sky right because I'm reading that Italy have only just shut non essential shops today which for all the bashing our government gets in the handling (generic not aimed at yourself) we seem to be ahead of most countries in when we are doing things verses the curve non?

I've no idea, he's been on a few times now on Mark Austins show, I think he means when they first implemented a lock down they had fewer deaths, but did the lock downs go country wide at once? Didn't Italy phase it from Lombardy out?

That much has happened you forget bits. Isn't Wuhan still in lock down three months on?

Dont get me wrong I think overal Boris has done ajob to now, with help from those experts around him, but with schools, shops and pubs etc closing  it has got to come in soon Surely?

He has been thrown in at the deep end since becoming PM, leaving the EU, flooding and now this.

Exactly I imagine there is a lot  companies that fall under that category.

Just buy closing the Biggers restaurant chains will reduce a huge number of Staff from towns and city centre's

Let’s not forget the situation (unfoundedly or not) where people were worried about WW3 kicking off.

Another 10 days is nothing mate, ride it out and enjoy some quiet time before she bugs you for another 11 yearslol

I think we should have had this lockdown a few days ago, but hopefully it happens tonight, too many stupid people mean that it's needed.

Is that more because of economic reasons? Have Italy offered to cover 80% of the wages of the employed - can their economy even cover it? I have no idea. But it might be a reason why they waited for longer to close all but essential businesses.

Thanks. I'm trying to count my blessings really, I'm very fortunate to have a partner who already worked from home, an employer who's been fab letting me work from home since last week, and a couple of older children who are happy to social distance from me 😊

I'm far from a social butterfly and so I think I'll be fine. I really feel for those who have no choice but to be out, and those who will miss it.

Is there any sign of PPE for your partner? My other half has ordered some for his team who need it but so far it's unavailable..

Sounds like you have a great "support team."

Well she has some gloves but not much else really. It is fine as long as her clients are not infected but as they are supposed to keep visiting them if they are it is a concern. Apparently the governement have told her company "they are on the list" but what that means she has no idea. If you see the scenes in Italy of the elderly and ill being cared for in their own homes once infected the carers have just a mask the medics full PPE kit. Have to say I'm concerned about my wife's chances in those circumstances with her current equipment.

I have no idea to be honest.

Another thing that is so 'muddy' is the 80% way upto 30k. I think a lot of people are missing the "up to" part and I fear some are going to be disappointed/angry
